Title: Choice by Person Becoming Director of More Than Fifteen Companies After Commencement of Act

.....shall choose the directorships which he wishes to continue to hold or to accept, so however that the total number of the directorships, old and new, held by him shall not exceed4[fifteen]. Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 277

Title: Cost of Return Journey of Pilgrims on Ships Other Than Those for Which Return Ticket is Available

.....the port of Jeddah having been declared by proper authority to be infected or by reason of war, disturbance or any other clause not arising from any act or default of the master, owner or agent. (2) Where any such pilgrim who has notified to the prescribed authority in the prescribed manner his desire to embark for the return voyage is, owing to his inability to obtain accommodation within the period of ninety days aforesaid in a ship for which the return ticket is available, detained at Jeddah beyond the said period, the master, owner or agent of the ship which such pilgrim was carried to the Hedjaz shall pay to the Central Government in respect of such pilgrim such sum not exceeding double the sum received by the master, owner or agent respect of the return ticket as the Central Government claims as the costs of repatriating the pilgrim, together with a sum of rupees five for each day after the expiry of the period aforesaid during which the pilgrim has been detained at Jeddah. (3) A certificate of such detention purporting to be made and signed by the Indian consular officer at Jeddah shall be received in evidence in any court in India without proof of a signature or of.....

Income Tax Act, 1961 Section 277

Title: False Statement in Verification, Etc.

If a person makes a statement in any verification under this Act or under any rule made thereunder, or delivers an account or statement which is false, and which he either knows or believes to be false, or does not believe to be true, he shall be punishable, - (i) in a case where the amount of tax, which would have been evaded if the statement or account had been accepted as true, exceeds one hundred thousand rupees, with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than six months but which may extend to seven years and with fine ; (ii) in any other case, with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than three months but which may extend to three years and with fine.

Title: Fouling Water of Public Spring or Reservoir

Whoever voluntarily corrupts or fouls the water of any public spring or reservoir, so as to render it less fit for the purpose for which it is ordinarily used, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both.

Title: In What Cases Translation of Will to Be Annexed to Petition. Verification of Translation by Person Other Than Court Translator

In cases wherein the Will, copy or draft, is written in any language other than English or than that inordinary use in proceedings before the Court, there shall be a translation thereof annexed to the petition by a translator of the Court, if the language be one for which a translator is appointed; or, if the Will, copy or draft, is in any other language, then by any person competent to translate the same, in which case such translation shall be verified by that person in the following manner, namely: "I (A.B.) do declare that I read and perfectly understand the language and character of the original, and that the above is a true and accurate translation thereof."

Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 Section 277

Title: Temporary Closure of Streets

New Delhi Municipal Council Act 1994 Section 277

Title: Power of Chairperson to Require Improvement of Building Unfit for Human Habitation

(1) Where the Chairperson upon information in his possession is satisfied that any building is in any respect unfit for human habitation, he may, unless in his opinion the building is not capable at a reasonable expense of being rendered fit, serve upon the owner of the building a notice requiring him within such time not being less than thirty days as may be specified in the notice to execute the works Of improvement specified therein and stating that in his opinion those works will render the building fit for human habitation. (2) In addition to serving a notice under this section on the owner the Chairperson may serve a copy of the notice on any other person having an interest in the building whether as a lessee, mortgagee or otherwise. (3) In determining whether a building can be rendered fit for human habitation at a reasonable expense regard shall be had to the estimated cost of the work necessary to render it so fit and the value which it is estimated that the building will have when the works are completed.

Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 Section 277

Title: Power to Compound Offences

.....under this Act or any rule or bye-law thereunder and on such compromise, no proceedings shall be taken against such person in respect of such offence; (b) with the sanction of the Deputy Commissioner, withdraw from prosecutions instituted under this Act or under any rule or bye-law made thereunder; (c) compound any offence against this Act or against any rule or byelaw made thereunder which may, by rules made by the Government, be declared compoundable: Provided that the Government may make rules to regulate the proceedings of persons empowered to compromise offences under this section: Provided further that no offence shall be compoundable which is committed by failure to comply with a notice, order or requisition issued by or on behalf of the municipal council or of the Municipal Commissioner or Chief Officer unless and until the same has been complied with so far as the compliance is possible. (2) Where an offence has been compounded, the offender shall bedischarged and no further proceedings shall be taken against him in respect of the offence so compounded.

Companies Act, 2013, Section 277

Title: Intimation to Company Liquidator, Provisional Liquidator and Registrar

.....thereof to be sent to the Company Liquidator or provisional liquidator, as the case may be, and the Registrar. (2) On receipt of the copy of order of appointment of provisional liquidator or winding up order, the Registrar shall make an endorsement to that effect in his records relating to the company and notify in the Official Gazette that such an order has been made and in the case of a listed company, the Registrar shall intimate about such appointment or order, as the case may be, to the stock exchange or exchanges where the securities of the company are listed. (3) The winding up order shall be deemed to be a notice of discharge to the officers, employees and workmen of the company, except when the business of the company is continued. (4) Within three weeks from the date of passing of winding up order, the Company Liquidator shall make an application to the Tribunal for constitution of a winding up committee to assist and monitor the progress of liquidation proceedings by the Company Liquidator in carrying out the function as provided in sub-section (5) and such winding up committee shall comprise of the following persons, namely:-- (i) Official Liquidator.....
