KARNATAKA PANCHAYAT RAJ ACT, 1993 Section 198

Title: Chief Executive Officer's right to requisition records, etc.

.....requisition to receive the same. (2) The Chief Executive Officer may also take steps to recover any money due by such person in the same manner and subject to the same provisions as in the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964 (Karnataka Act 12 of 1964) for the recovery of the arrears of land revenue from defaulters; and for the purpose of recovering the accounts , records or other property appertaining to the Grama Panchayat or Taluk Panchayat or Zilla Panchayat may issue a search warrant and exercise all such powers with respect thereto as may lawfully be exercised by a Magistrate under the provisions of Chapter VII of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974). (3) Every person knowing where any moneys, accounts, records or other property appertaining to a Grama Panchayat or Taluk Panchayat or Zilla Panchayat are concealed, shall be bound to give information of the same to the Chief Executive Officer. .....building, situated within the cantonment; or (b) for the purpose of supplying water or of the introduction or distribution of outflow of water or for the removal or outflow of sewage, after giving reasonable notice in writing to the owner or occupier, into, through, across, under or over any land or building, or up side of any building, situated outside the cantonment and may at all times do all acts and things which may be necessary or expedient for repairing or maintaining any such cable, wire, pipe, drain, sewer or channel in an effective state for the purpose for which the same may be used or is intended to be used: Provided that no nuisance shall be caused in excess of what is reasonably necessary for the proper execution of the work: Provided further that compensation shall be payable to the owner or occupier for any damage sustained by him which is directly occasioned by the carrying out of any such operation.

Indian Succession Act, 1925 Section 198

Title: Curator to Give Security and May Receive Remuneration

(1) The District Judge shall take from the curator security for the faithful discharge of his trust, and for rendering satisfactory accounts of the same as hereinafter provided, and may authorise him to receive out of the property such remuneration in no case exceeding five per centum on the moveable property and on the annual profits of the immoveable property, as the District Judge thinks reasonable. (2) All surplus money realized by the curator shall be paid into Court, and invested in public securities for the benefit of the persons entitled thereto upon adjudication of the summary proceeding. (3) Security shall be required from the curator with all reasonable dispatch, and where it is practicable, shall be taken generally to answer all cases for which the person may be afterwards appointed curator; but no delay in the taking of security shall prevent the Judge from immediately investing the curator with the powers of his office.

Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 198

Title: Entries and Certificates of Desertion Abroad

(1) In every case of desertion from an Indian ship whilst such ship is at any place out of India, the master shall produce the entry of desertion in the official log book to the Indian consular officer at the place, and that officer shall thereupon, make and certify a copy of the entry. (2) The master shall forthwith transmit such copy to the shipping master at the port at which the seaman or apprentice was shipped, and the shipping master shall, if required, cause the same to be produced in any legal proceeding. (3) Such copy, if purporting to be so made and certified as aforesaid, shall, in any legal proceeding relating to such desertion, be admissible in evidence.
