Companies Act, 2013, Section 185

Title: Loan to Directors, Etc.

.....a general meeting of which not less than twenty-five per cent. of the total voting power may be exercised or controlled by any such director, or by two or more such directors, together; or (e) any body corporate, the Board of directors, managing director or manager, whereof is accustomed to act in accordance with the directions or instructions of the Board, or of any director or directors, of the lending company. (2) If any loan is advanced or a guarantee or security is given or provided in contravention of the provisions of sub-section (1), the company shall be punishable with fine which shall not be less than five lakh rupees but which may extend to twenty-five lakh rupees, and the director or the other person to whom any loan is advanced or guarantee or security is given or provided in connection with any loan taken by him or the other person, shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to six months or with fine which shall not be less than five lakh rupees but which may extend to twenty-five lakh rupees, or with both.

Cantonments Act, 2006 Section 185

Title: Conditions of Service of Safai Karamcharis and Others

(1) No person employed in any service, or being employed in connection with the working of any system of public conservancy or sanitation or water supply or hospitals or dispensaries or electric supply or public transport services or such other essential services under a Board in any cantonment area, shall, in the absence of any contract, resign without reasonable cause or absent himself from duty without proper authority and in case of such resignation or absence from duty he shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one month; and the conditions of service specified herein shall, invariably be mentioned in the appointment letter of the persons employed to said services. (2) The Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, direct that on and from such date as may be specified in the notification, the provisions of this section shall apply in the case of any specified class of employees employed by a Board whose functions intimately concern the public health or safety.

Electricity Act, 2003 Section 185

.....the provisions contained in sections 12 to 18 of the Indian Electricity Act, 1910 (9 of 1910) and rules made thereunder shall have effect until the rules under sections 67 to 69 of this Act are made; (c) the Indian Electricity Rules, 1956 made under section 37 of the Indian Electricity Act, 1910 (9 of 1910) as it stood before such repeal shall continue to be in force till the regulations under section 53 of this Act are made. (d) all rules made under sub-section (1) of section 69 of the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948 (54 of 1948) shall continue to have effect until such rules are rescinded or modified, as the case may be; (e) all directives issued, before the commencement of this Act, by a State Government under the enactments specified in the Schedule shall continue to apply for the period for which such directions were issued by the State Government. (3) The provisions of the enactments specified in the Schedule, not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, shall apply to the States in which such enactments are applicable. Manipur Municipalities Act, 1994 Section 185

Title: Procedure if Person Objecting Alleges That Work Will Cost More Than Three Thousand Rupees

If the objector alleges that the cost of executing the work or of doing the thing required may exceed three thousand rupees, such objection shall be heard and disposed of by the municipality at a meeting, unless the Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson shall certify that such cost may not exceed three thousand rupees, in which case the objection shall be heard and disposed of by the Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson: Provided that in any case in which the Chairperson or the Vice-Chairperson shall have certified his opinion and the objection shall in consequence thereof have been heard and disposed of by the Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson, the person making the objection may, if the requisition made upon him is not withdrawn on the hearing of his objection, pay in the said sum of three thousand rupees to the municipality as the cost of executing the work or doing the thing required, whereupon such person shall be relieved of all further liability and obligation, in respect of executing the work or doing the thing required and in respect of paying the expenses thereof and the municipality itself shall execute such work or do such thing, and shall exercise all powers necessary

New Delhi Municipal Council Act 1994 Section 185

Title: Rights of User of Property for Aqueducts, Lines, Etc.

.....or under the control or management of the Central Government or railway administration or vested in any local authority save with the permission of the Central Government or railway administration or the local authority, as the case may be, and in accordance with any bye-laws made in this behalf. Provided that the Chairperson may, without such permission, repair renew or amend any existing works of which the character or position is not to be altered if such repair, renewal or amendment is urgently necessary in order to maintain without interruption the supply of water, drainage or collection of sewage or is such that delay would be dangerous to health, human life or property. (3) In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by this section, the Chairperson shall cause as little damage and incovenience as may be possible, and shall make full compensation for any damage or inconvenience caused by him.

Railways Act, 1989 Section 185

Title: Taxation on Railways for Advertisement

(1) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any other law, a railway administration shall not be liable to pay any tax to any local authority in respect of any advertisement made on any part of the railway unless the Central Government, by notification, declares the railway administration to be liable to pay the tax specified in such notification. (2) The Central Government may at any time revoke or vary a notification issued under sub-section (1).

Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 Section 185

Title: Driving by a Drunken Person or by a Person Under the Influence of Drugs

State: Central

Year: 1988

Whoever, while driving, or attempting to drive, a motor vehicle,- 1 [(a) has, in his blood, alcohol exceeding 30 mg. per 100 ml. of blood detected in a test by a breath analyser, or] (b) is under this influence of a drug to such an extent as to be incapable of exercising proper control over the vehicle, shall be punishable for the first offence with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both; and for a second or subsequent offence, if committed within three years of the commission of the previous similar offence, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine which may extend to three thousand rupees, or with both. Explanation. -For the purposes of this section, the drug or drugs specified by the Central Government in this behalf, by notification in the Official Gazette, shall be deemed to render a person incapable of exercising proper control over a motor vehicle. ______________________ 1. Title: Power to Order Cases to Be Tried in Different Sessions Divisions

Notwithstanding anything contained in the preceding provisions of this Chapter, the State Government may direct that any cases or class of cases committed for trial in any district may be tried in any sessions division: Provided that such direction is not repugnant to any direction previously issued by the High Court or the Supreme Court under the Constitution, or under this Code or any other law for the time being in force.
