Title: Illegal Purchase or Bid for Property Offered for Sale by Authority of Public Servant

State: Central

Whoever, at any sale of property held by the lawful authority of a public servant, as such, purchases or bids for any properly on account of any person, whether himself or any other, whom he knows to be under a legal incapacity to purchase that properly at that sale, or bids for such property not intending to perform the obligations under which he lays himself by such bidding, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one month, or with fine which may extend to two hundred rupees, or with both.

Indian Succession Act, 1925 Section 185

Title: Person Taking in Individual Capacity Under Will May in Other Character Elect to Take in Opposition

A person who in his individual capacity takes a benefit under a Will may, in another character, elect to take in opposition to the Will. Illustration The estate of Sultanpur is settled upon A for life, and after his death, upon B. A leaves the estate of Sultanpur to D, and 2,000 rupees to B, and 1,000 rupees to C, who is B's only child. B dies intestate, shortly after the testator, without having made any election. C takes out administration to B, and as administrator elects to keep the estate of Sultanpur in opposition to the Will, and to relinquish the legacy of 2,000 rupees. C may do this, and yet claim his legacy of 1,000 rupees under the Will.

Title: Reconsideration of Case After Suspension

(1) Where a sentence has been suspended, the case may at any time, and shall, at intervals of not more than four months, be reconsidered by the authority or officer specified in section 180, or by any air or other officer not below the rank of squadron leader duly authorised by the authority or officer specified in section 180. (2) Where on such reconsideration by the officer so authorised it appears to him that the conduct of the offender since his conviction has been such as to justify a remission of the sentence, he shall refer the matter to the authority or officer specified in section 180.

Regulations to be laid before Parliament Every regulation made under this Act shall be laid, as soon as may be after it is made, before each House of Parliament, while it is in session for a total period of thirty days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions, and if, before the expiry of the session immediately following the session or the successive sessions aforesaid, both Houses agree in making any modification in the regulation or, both Houses agree that the regulation should not be made, the regulation shall thereafter have effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that regulation.] ________________________ 1. Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 185

Title: Assignment or Sale of Salvage Invalid

Subject to the provisions of this Act, an assignment of salvage payable to a seaman or apprentice made prior to the accruing thereof shall not bind the person making the same, and a power-of-attorney or authority for the receipt of any such salvage shall not be irrevocable.
