Title: Public Servant Unlawfully Buying or Bidding for Property

State: Central

Year: 1860

Whoever, being a public servant, and being legally bound as such public servant, not to purchase or bid for certain property, purchases or bids for that property, either in his own name or in the name of another, or jointly, or in shares with others, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both; and the property, if purchased, shall be confiscated.

Title: When Finder of Thing Commonly on Sale May Sell It

When a thing which is commonly the subject of sale is lost, if the owner cannot with reasonable diligence be found, or if he refuses, upon demand, to pay the lawful charges of the finder, the finder may sell it (1) when the thing is in danger of perishing or of losing the greater part of its value, or (2) when the lawful charges of the finder, in respect of the thing found, amount to two-thirds of its value.

.....consider expedient to prevent the outbreak or spread of any such disease, (2) In the event of a cantonment or any part of a cantonment being visited or threatened by an outbreak of any infectious or contagious disease, the Health Officer or any person authorised by him in this behalf may, without notice and at any time, inspect and disinfect any well, tank or other place from which water is, or is likely to be, taken for the purposes of drinking, and may further take such steps as he thinks fit to ensure the purity of the water or to prevent the use of the same for drinking purposes. ________________________ 1. INDIAN SUCCESSION ACT, 1925 Section 169

Title: Exoneration of legatee's immovable property for which land-revenue or rent payable periodically

State: Central

Year: 1925

Where there is a bequest of any interest in immoveable property in respect of which payment in the nature of land-revenue or in the nature of rent has to be made periodically, the estate of the testator shall (as between such estate and the legatee) make good such payments or a proportion of them, as the case may be, up to the day of his death. Illustration A bequeaths to B a house, in respect of which 365 rupees are payable annually by way of rent. A pays his rent at the usual time, and dies 25 days after. A's estate Will make good 25 rupees in respect of the rent.

The reports of the Auditor-General of India relating to the accounts of the Federation shall be submitted to the Governor-General, who shall cause them to be laid before the Federal Legislature, and the reports of the Auditor-General of India or of the Auditor-General of the Province, as the case may be, relating to the accounts of a Province shall be submitted to the Governor of the Province, who shall cause them to be laid before the Provincial Legislature.

Army Act, 1950 Section 169

Title: Execution of Sentence of Imprisonment

State: Central

Year: 1950

.....in a civil prison. (2) When a direction has been made under sub-section (1), the commanding officer, of the person under sentence or such other officer as may be prescribed shall forward a warrant in the prescribed form to the officer incharge of the prison in which such person is to be confined and shall arrange for his despatch to such prison with the warrant. (3) In the case of a sentence of imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months and passed under this Act by a court-martial, the appropriate officer under subsection (1), may direct that the sentence shall be carried out by confinement in military custody instead of in a civil or military prison. (4) On active service, a sentence of imprisonment may be carried out by confinement in such place as the officer commanding the forces in the field may from time to time, appoint.

Companies Act, 1956 Section 169

Title: Calling of Extraordinary General Meeting on Requisition

.....be proposed as a special resolution, be deemed not to have duly convened the meeting if they do not give such notice thereof as is required by sub-section (2) of section 189. (7) A meeting called under sub-section (6) by the requisitionists or any of them (a) shall be called in the same manner, as nearly as possible, as that in which meetings are to be called by the Board; but (b) shall not be held after the expiration of three months from the date of the deposit of the requisition. Explanation.Nothing in clause (b) shall be deemed to prevent a meeting duly commenced before the expiry of the period of three months, aforesaid, from adjourning to some day after the expiry of that period. (8) Where two or more persons hold any shares or interest in a company jointly, a requisition, or a notice calling a meeting, signed by one or some only of them shall, for the purposes of this section, have the same force and effect as if it had been signed by all of them. (9) Any reasonable expenses incurred by the requisitionists by reason of the failure of the Board duly to call a meeting shall be repaid to the requisitionists by the company; and any sum so repaid shall be retained.....

Navy Act, 1957 Section 169

Title: Functions of the Judge Advocate General of the Navy

It shall be the duty of the Judge Advocate General of the Navy to perform such duties of a legal and judicial character pertaining to the Indian Navy as may from time to time be referred or assigned to him by the Central Government or the Chief of the Naval Staff, and to discharge the functions conferred on him by or under this Act or any other law for the time being in force.
