Title: Licences and Written Permissions to Specify Conditions, Etc., and to Be Signed

.....same is granted, and shall be given under the signature of the competent authority and such fee shall be charged therefor as is prescribed by any rule under this Act in that behalf. Revocation of licences, etc. (2) Any licence or written permission granted under this Act may at any time be suspended or revoked by the competent authority, if any of its conditions or restrictions is infringed or evaded by the person to whom it has been granted, of or if such person is convicted of any offence in any matter to which such licence or permission relates. When licence revoked, etc., grantee to be deemed without licence. (3) When any such licence or written permission is suspended or revoked, or when the period for which the same was granted has expired, the person to whom the same was granted shall, for all purposes of this Act, deemed to be without a licence or written permission, until the order for suspending or revoking the same is cancelled, or until the same is renewed, as the case may be. Guarantee to produce licence, etc., when required (4) Every person to whom any such licence or written permission has been granted, shall, while the same remains in force, at all.....

(1) if a company fails to comply with any of the provisions contained in sections 159, 160 or 161, the company, and every officer of the company who is in default, shall be punishable with fine which may, extend to1[five hundred rupees] for every day during which the default continues. (2) For the purposes of this section and sections 159, 160, and 161, the expressions "officer" and "director" shall include any person in accordance with whose directions or instructions the Board of directors of the company is accustomed to act. ____________________ 1. Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 Section 162

Title: Annual Statement by Trustees

(1) The aforesaid trustees shall, at the end of every year submit to the corporation a statement showing,- (a) the amount which has been invested during the year under section 160; (b) the date of the last investment made previous to the submission of the statement; (c) the aggregate amount of the securities then in their hands; and (d) the aggregate amount which has, up to the date of the statement, been applied under section 161 in or towards discharging loans. (2) Every such statement shall be laid before the corporation and published.

Cantonments Act, 1924 Section 162

Title: Destruction of Infectious Hut or Shed

State: Central

(1) Where the destruction of any hut or shed in a cantonment is, in the opinion of the1[Board], necessary to prevent the spread of any infectious or contagious disease, the1[Board] may, by notice in writing, require the owner to destroy the hut or shed and the materials thereof within such time as may be specified in the notice. (2) Where the President of a Board2[* * *] is satisfied that the destruction of any hut or shed in the cantonment is immediately necessary for the purpose of preventing the spread of any infectious or contagious disease, he may order the owner or occupier of the hut or shed to destroy the same forthwith, or may himself cause it to be destroyed after giving not less than two hours notice to the owner or occupier thereof. (3) The1[Board] shall pay compensation to the owner of any hut or shed destroyed under this section. ________________________ 1. Title: Statements to Police Not to Be Signed: Use of Statements in Evidence

.....Act, 1872 (1 of 1872); and when any part of such statement is so used, any part thereof may also be used in the re-examination of such witness, but for the purpose only of explaining any matter referred to in his cross-examination.] (2) Nothing in this section shall be deemed to apply to any statement falling within the provisions of clause (1) of section 32 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 (1 of 1872), or to affect the provisions of section 27 of that Act. Explanation.An omission to state a fact or circumstance in the statement referred to in sub-section (1) may amount to contradiction if the same appears to be significant and otherwise relevant having regard to the context in which such omission occurs and whether any omission amounts to a contradiction in the particular context shall be a question of fact.

Finance Act, 2003 Section 162

Title: Amendment of Section 8

In section 8 of the Central Sales Tax Act, in sub-section (1), for the portion beginning with the words "shall be liable" and ending with the words "whichever is lower", the following shall be substituted, namely:-- "shall be liable to pay tax under this Act, with effect from such date as may be notified by the Central Government in the Official Gazette for this purpose, which shall be two per cent. of his turnover or at the rate applicable to the sale or purchase of such goods inside the appropriate State under the sales tax law of that State, or, as the case may be, under any enactment of that State imposing value added tax, whichever is lower: Provided that the rate of tax payable under this sub-section by a dealer shall continue to be four per cent. of his turnover, until the rate of two per cent. takes effect under this sub-section.".

Sub-section(2) and (3) omitted by Patents (Amdt) Act, 2002. dated 25.06.2002 w.e.f 20.05.2003. Prior to omission it read as under: "(2) Notwithstanding the repeal of the Indian Patents and Design Act, 1911, in so far as it relates to patents- (a) the provisions of section 21A of that Act and of any rules made thereunder shall continue to apply in relation to any patent granted before the commencement of this Act in pursuance of that section, and (b) the renewal fee in respect of a patent granted under that Act shall be as fixed thereunder. (3) Save as otherwise provided in sub-section (2), the provisions of this Act shall apply to any application for a patent pending at the commencement of this Act and to any proceedings consequent thereon and to any patent granted in pursuance thereof."

Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 Section 162

Title: Settlement of Betterment Fee by Arbitrator

.....to perform or in the opinion of the Government, neglects to perform or becomes incapable of performing his functions, the Government shall forthwith appoint another arbitrator. (5) When the arbitrator has made his award, he shall sign it and forwardit to the municipal council and such award shall, subject to the provisions of sub-section (6), be final and conclusive and binding on all persons. (6) Any party aggrieved by an award including the finding on costs under sub-section (3) of section 164, if any, may, within thirty days from the date of the communication thereof, appeal to the District Judge having jurisdiction over the1[municipal area] and any order or decision of the said District Judge shall be final and conclusive and binding on all persons. _______________________________ 1.
