Title: Petitions to the Central Government or Chief of the Naval Staff Against Findings or Sentences

Any person subject to naval law who considers himself aggrieved by a finding or sentence of any court-martial may present a petition to the Central Government or to the Chief of the Naval Staff, and the Central Government or the Chief of the Naval Staff, as the case may be, may pass such order thereon as may be thought fit.

Indian Succession Act, 1925 Section 162

Title: When Thing Bequeathed is a Valuable to Be Received by Testator from Third Person; and Testator Himself, or His Representative, Receives It

Where the thing bequeathed is not the right to receive something of value from a third person, but the money or other commodity which may be received from the third person by the testator himself or by his representatives, the receipt of such sum of money or other commodity by the testator shall not constitute an ademption, but if he mixes it up with the general mass of his property, the legacy is adeemed; Illustration A bequeaths to B whatever sum may be received from his claim on C. A receives the whole of his claim on C, and sets it apart from the general mass of his property. The legacy is not adeemed.

Karnataka Police Act, 1963 Section 162

Title: Disposal of Fees, Rewards, Etc

All fees paid for licences or written permissions issued under this Act, and all sums paid for the service of processes by Police Officers, and all rewards, forfeiture and penalties or shares thereof which are by law payable to Police Officers as informers, shall save in so far as any such fees or sums belong under the provisions of any enactment in force to any local authority, be credited to the Government: Provided that with the sanction of the Government, or under any rule made by the Government in that behalf the whole or any portion of such reward, forfeiture or penalty may, for special services, be paid to a Police Officer, or be divided amongst two or more Police Officers.

Income Tax Act, 1961 Section 162

Title: Right of Representative Assessee to Recover Tax Paid

(1) Every representative assessee who, as such, pays any sum under this Act, shall be entitled to recover the sum so paid from the person on whose behalf it is paid, or to retain out of any moneys that may be in his possession or may come to him in his representative capacity, an amount equal to the sum so paid. (2) Any representative assessee, or any person who apprehends that he may be assessed as a representative assessee, may retain out of any money payable by him to the person on whose behalf he is liable to pay tax (hereinafter in this section referred to as the principal), a sum equal to his estimated liability under this Chapter, and in the event of any disagreement between the principal and such representative assessee or person as to the amount to be so retained, such representative assessee or person may secure from the Assessing Officer a certificate stating the amount to be so retained pending final settlement of the liability, and the certificate so obtained shall be his warrant for retaining that amount. (3) The amount recoverable from such representative assessee or person at the time of final settlement shall not exceed the amount specified in such.....

Indian Evidence Act 1872 Section 162

Title: Production of Documents

Year: 1872

A witness summoned to produce a document shall, if it is in his possession or power, bring it to Court, notwithstanding any objection which there may be to its production or to its admissibility. The validity of any such objection shall be decided on by the Court. The Court, if it sees, fit, may inspect the document, unless it refers to matters of state, or take other evidence to enable it to determine on its admissibility. Translation of documents.If for such a purpose it is necessary to cause any document to be translated, the Court may, if it thinks fit, direct the translator to keep the contents secret, unless the document is to be given in evidence : and, if the interpreter disobeys such direction, he shall be held to have committed an offence under section 166 of the Indian Penal Code (45 of 1860).

Assam Rifles Act, 2006 Section 162

Title: Powers and Duties Conferrable and Imposable on Members of the Force

.....confer or impose, with the concurrence of the State Government concerned, any of the powers or duties which may be exercised or discharged under a State Act by a police officer upon a member of the Force who, in the opinion of the Central Government, holds a corresponding or higher rank. (3) Every order made under this section shall be laid, as soon as may be after it is made, before each House of Parliament while it is in session for a total period of thirty days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions, and if, before the expiry of the session immediately following the session or the successive sessions aforesaid, both Houses agree in making any modification in the order or both Houses agree that the order should not be made, the order shall thereafter have effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that order.

Title: Power of Chairperson to Provide Meters

(1) The Chairperson may provide a water-meter and attach the same to the service pipe in premises connected with municipal water works. (2) The expense of providing and attaching a meter under sub-section (1) shall be paid out of the New Delhi Municipal Fund. (3) The use, rent to be paid for such use, maintenance and testing of meters shall be regulated by orders made by the Council in this behalf.

Cantonments Act, 2006 Section 162

Title: Action on Report Submitted by Health Officer

Upon receipt of a report submitted by the Health Officer under section 161, the Chief Executive Officer may, by notice in writing,-- (a) prohibit the supply of milk from the dairy until the notice has been withdrawn; or (b) prohibit the washerman from washing clothes or other articles in any such place or by any such process as aforesaid until the notice has been withdrawn or unless he uses such place in such manner, or washes by process, as the Chief Executive Officer may direct in the notice; or (c) prohibit the medical practitioner or the paramedical worker from using any such needles, syringes or other such equipment unless the notice is withdrawn or rectification as may be required in the notice is carried out.

Companies Act, 2013, Section 162

Title: Appointment of Directors to Be Voted Individually

(1) At a general meeting of a company, a motion for the appointment of two or more persons as directors of the company by a single resolution shall not be moved unless a proposal to move such a motion has first been agreed to at the meeting without any vote being cast against it. (2) A resolution moved in contravention of sub-section (1) shall be void, whether or not any objection was taken when it was moved. (3) A motion for approving a person for appointment, or for nominating a person for appointment as a director, shall be treated as a motion for his appointment.
