.....and be responsible for the maintenance of the accounts of the Authority ; (f) exercise supervision and control over the accounts and proceedings of all officers and servants of the Authority in matters of executive administration and in the matters concerning the accounts and records of the authority and exercise the powers of the Chairman under sub-section (1) of section 54 relating to the officers and servants of the Authority; (g) furnish to the Government a copy of the minutes of the Authority's proceedings and any return or other information which the Government may, from time to time, call for ; (h) authenticate by his signature all permissions, orders, decisions, notices and other documents of the Authority and the orders of the Chairman; and (i) have all the powers of a major Head of the Department of the State Government under the Karnataka State Civil Services Rules for the time being in force as respects the officers and servants of the Authority.

In section 12F of the Central Excise Act, for sub-section (2), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:-- '(2) The provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973(2 of 1974) relating to search and seizure shall, so far as may be, apply to search and seizure under this section subject to the modification that subsection (5) of section 165 of the said Code shall have effect as if for the word "Magistrate", wherever it occurs, the words "Commissioner of Central Excise" were substituted.'.

Power of search and seizure.--(1) Where the Joint Commissioner of Central Excise or such other Central Excise Officer as may be notified by the Board has reasons to believe that any goods liable to. confiscation or any documents or books or things, which in his opinion shall be. (2) The provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973(2 of 1974) relating to search and seizure, shall, so far as may be, apply to search and seizure under this section as they apply to search and seizure under that Code. .

Power of Commission to call for information, etc.--(1) The Commission, while enquiring into the complaints of violation or deprivation of educational rights of minorities shall call for information or report from the Central Government or any State Government or any other authority or organisation subordinate thereto, within such time as may be specified by it: Provided that,-- (a) if the information or report is not received within the time stipulated by the Commission, it may proceed to inquire into the complaint; (b) if, on receipt of information or report, the Commission is satisfied either that no further inquiry is required, or that the required action has been initiated or taken by the concerned Government or authority, it may not proceed with the complaint and inform the complainant accordingly.
