.....with interest at the rate of six per cent per annum. (3) The court shall, if satisfied after such summary inquiry as it deems fit, set aside the sale and restore the applicant to possession of his holding. (4) Where the amount deposited under sub-section (2) is not found sufficient, the court shall not pass an order under sub-section (3) unless the deficit amount is deposited in the court within such period as the court may direct. (5) The court may also order the applicant to deposit in the court such amount as may be specified by it towards cost of the auction purchaser and the value of improvements, if any, effected on the holding after the sale.". 3. Repeal and saving.- The Kanam Tenancy Abolition (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 1979 (12 of 1979), is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act as amended by the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the principal Act as amended by this Act. THE KERALA POLICE (SECOND AMENDMENT) [1] ACT, 1979 THE KERALA POLICE (SECOND AMENDMENT) [1] ACT, 1979 (ACT 36 OF 1979) An Act further to amend the Kerala Police Act, 1960 Preamble.- WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Kerala Police Act, 1960, for the purpose hereinafter appearing; BE it enacted in the Thirtieth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1 . Short title .- This Act may be called the Kerala Police (Second Amendment) Act, 1979. 2. Insertion of new section 53A .-After section 53 of the Police Act, 1960 (5 of 1961), the following section shall be inserted, namely:- "53A. Penalty for possession of property believed to have been stolen.-Whoever is found in possession or is proved to have been in possession of anything which there is reason to believe to be stolen property or property fraudulently obtained and for the possession of which he fails satisfactorily to account, shall on conviction be liable to fine out exceeding one hundred rupees or to imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months or to both.". Be it enacted by the Legislature of Meghalaya in the Twenty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- Short title and commencement. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Contingency Fund of Meghalaya (Amendment) Act, 1979. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 22nd day of September, 1978. Amendment of Section 2 of Meghalaya Act 5 of 1972. 2. In Section 2 of the Contingency Fund of Meghalaya Act,1972 for the words "sum of rupees fifty lakhs" the words "a sum of rupees one crore and fifty lakhs" shall be substituted. [Explanation:- The aforesaid sum of rupees one crore and fifty lakhs includes the sum of rupees twenty-five lakhs paid to the Contingency Fund of Meghalaya under the Contingency Fund of Meghalaya (Augmentation of Corpus) Act, 1974 (10 of 1974)]. Repeal of Ordinance 6 of 1978. 3. The Contingency Fund of Meghalaya (Amendment) Ordinance, 1978 is hereby repealed.
