.....the Calicut Municipal Corporation (Extension of Time for Reconstitution) Second Amendment Act, 1978. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 31st day of May 1978. 2. Amendment of Section 3 .--In section 3 of the Calicut Municipal Corporation (Extension of Time for Reconstitution) Act, 1976 (3 of 1977) hereinafter referred to as the principal Act),-- (a) in sub sections (1) and (2), for the figures, letters and words "1st day of June, 1978", the figures, letters and words "1st day of November 1978", shall be substituted; (b) in subsection (3), for the figures, letters and words "1st day of June, 1983", the figures, letters and words "1st day of November, 1983" shall be substituted. 3. Repeal and saving .-(1) The Calicut Municipal Corporation (Extension of Time for Reconstitution) Second Amendment Ordinance, 1978 (18 of 1978), is hereby repealed. 2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act as amended by the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the principal Act as amended by this Act. .....appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows: Section 1 Short title This Act may be called the Motor Vehicles (West Bengal Second Amendment) Act, 1978. Section 2 Application of the Act The Motor Vehicles Act, 1939 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), shall, in its application to West Bengal, be amended in the manner hereinafter provided. Section 3 Amendment of section 47 of Act 4 of 1939 In section 47 of the said Act, in sub-section (1), (a) in clause (f), for the words "or area;", the words "or area;" shall be substituted; (b) the words beginning with "and shall also take into consideration" and ending with "route or area lies:" shall be omitted. Section 4 Amendment of section 48 In sub-section (3) of section 48 of the said Act, for clause (xxi), the following clause shall be substituted: "(xxi) that the Regional Transport Authority may, after giving notice of not less than one month, (a) vary the conditions of the permit, subject to the limitation that, in no case, the distance covered by the original route shall be altered by more than 24 kilometres whether or not any such condition has been specified in the permit in pursuance of clause (i), (b) attach.....
