Title: Presumption from Possession of Illicit Articles

Presumption from possession of illicit articles In trials under this Act, it may be presumed, unless and until the contrary is proved, that the accused has committed an offence under this Act in respect of-- (a) any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance or controlled substance; (b) any opium poppy, cannabis plant or coca plant growing on any land which he has cultivated; (c) any apparatus specially designed or any group of utensils specially adopted for the manufacture of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance or controlled substance; or (d) any materials which have undergone any process towards the manufacture of a narcotic drug or psychotropic substance or controlled substance, or any residue left of the materials from which any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance or controlled substance has been manufactured, for the possession of which he fails to account satisfactorily.] ______________________ 1. Title: Penalty for Selling or Delivering Rejected Weights and Measures

Whoever sells, delivers or disposes of, or causes to be sold, delivered or disposed of, and weight or measure which has been rejected on verification under this Act or the Standards Act, or any rule made under either of the said Act, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both: Provided that nothing in this section shall apply to the sale, as scrap, or any rejected weight or measure which has been defaced in the prescribed manner.

Title: Duties of Police Officers

(1) It shall be the duty of every Police Officer,- (a) to co-operate with the Board for carrying into effect and enforcing the provisions of this Act or any rule or regulation or scheme made thereunder; (b) to communicate without delay to the proper officer or servant of the Board any information which such police officer receives, of a design to commit, or of the commission of, any offence against this Act or any rule or regulation or scheme made thereunder ; and (c) to assist the Board or any officer or servant of the Board reasonably demanding the aid of such police officer for the lawful exercise of any power vesting in the Board or any such officer or servant under this Act or any rule or regulation or scheme made thereunder. (2) Any police officer who omits or refuses to perform any duty imposed on him by this Act, shall be deemed to have committed the offence under section 65 (b) of the1[Karnataka] Police Act, 19631[Karnataka] Act 4 of 1964). _________________________ 1. Title: Indemnity of Directors

(1) Every director shall be indemnified by the National Bank against all losses and expenses incurred by him in, or in relation to, the discharge of his duties except such as are caused by his own wilful act or default. (2) A director shall not be responsible for any other director or for any officer or other employee of the National Bank or for any loss or expenses resulting to the National Bank from the insufficiency or deficiency of the value of, or title to, any property or security acquired or taken on behalf of the National Bank or the insolvency or wrongful act of any debtor or any person under obligation to the National Bank or any thing done in good faith in the execution of the duties of his office in relation thereto

Title: Making Away with Equipment

Any person subject to this Act who commits any of the following offences, that is to say,-- (a) makes away with or is concerned in making away with, any arms, ammunition, equipment, instruments, tools, clothing or any other thing being the property of the Government issued to him for his use or entrusted to him; or (b) loses by neglect anything mentioned in clause (a); or (c) sells, pawns, destroys or defaces any medal or decoration granted to him; shall, on conviction by court-martial, be liable to suffer imprisonment for a term which may extend, in the case of the offences specified in clause (a) to ten years and in the case of the offences specified in the other clauses to five years, or such less punishment as is in this Act mentioned.

Title: Savings of Provisions of Police Acts for Presidency-towns

Nothing contained in the Indian Succession Act, 1925 (39 of 1925) or in this Act, shall be deemed to affect, or to have affected, any law for the time being in force relating to the movable property under four hundred rupees in value of persons dying intestate within any of the presidency towns which shall be or has been taken charge of by the police for the purpose of safe custody.
