Title: Validity of Acts and Proceedings

(1) No act of the Nagar Panchayat or of the Council or of any of its committees shall be deemed to be invalid by reason of any vacancy in the membership thereof. (2) Any proceeding of a meeting of the Nagar Panchayat or of Council or of any committee thereof shall be valid notwithstanding that it is subsequently discovered that some person who was not entitled to do so, sat or voted or otherwise took part in the proceedings.

Cantonments Act, 2006 Section 214

Title: New Premises Not to Be Erected with out Drains

(1) It shall not be lawful to erect or to re-erect any premises in a cantonment or to occupy any such premises unless-- (a) a drain be constructed of such size, materials and description, at such level and with such fall as shall appear to the Chief Executive Officer to be necessary for the effectual drainage of such premises; (b) there have been provided and set up on such premises such appliances and fittings as may appear to the Chief Executive Officer to be necessary for the purposes of gathering or receiving the filth and other polluted and obnoxious matter from, and conveying the same off, the said premises and of effectually flushing the drain of the said premises and every fixture connected therewith. (2) The drain so constructed shall empty into a cantonment drain situated at a distance of not exceeding thirty meters from the premises; but if no cantonment drain is situated within that distance then such drain shall empty into a cesspool situated within that distance to be specified by the Chief Executive Officer for the purpose.

Indian Succession Act, 1925 Section 214

Title: Proof of Representative Title a Condition Precedent to Recovery Through the Courts of Debts from Debtors of Deceased Persons

.....to execute against such a debtor a decree or order for the payment of his debt, except on the production, by the person so claiming of- (i) a probate or letters of administration evidencing the grant to him of administration to the estate of the deceased, or (ii) a certificate granted under section 31 or section 32 of the Administrator-General's Act, 1913 (3 of 1913), and having the debt mentioned therein, or (iii) a succession certificate granted under Part X and having the debt specified therein, or (iv) a certificate granted under the Succession Certificate Act, 18891(7 of 1889), or (v) a certificate granted under Bombay Regulation No. VIII of 1827, and, if granted after the first day of May, 1889 having the debt specified therein. (2) The word' 'debt'' in sub-section (1) includes any debt except rent, revenue or profits payable in respect of land used for agricultural purposes. ______________________ 1. COMPANIES ACT, 1956 Section 214

Title: Rights of holding company's representatives and members

(1) A holding company may, by resolution, authorise representatives named in the resolution to inspect the books of account kept by any of its subsidiaries; and the books of account of any such subsidiary shall be open to inspection by those representatives at any time during business hours. (2) The rights conferred by section 235 upon members of a company may be exercised, in respect of any subsidiary, by members of the holding company as if they alone were members of the subsidiary.

Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 214

Title: Entries Required to Be Made in Official Log Books

.....for entry in the official log. (2) The master of every such ship, upon its arrival at any port in India or at such other time and place as the Central Government may with respect to any ship or class of ships direct, shall deliver or transmit, in such form as the Director-General may specify, a return of the facts recorded by him in respect of the birth33of a child, or the death of a person on board the ship to the Director-General. (3) (a) The Director-General shall send a certified copy of such of the returns received by him under sub-section (2) as relate to citizens of India, to such officer as may be specified in this behalf by the Central Government; and such officer shall cause the same to be preserved in such manner as may be specified in this behalf by the Central Government. . (b) Every such copy shall be deemed to be a certified copy of the entry with respect to the person concerned, registered under any law in force for the time being relating to the registration of births and deaths.
