ACT NO. 9 OF 1998 THE INDRAPRASTHA VISHWAVIDYALAYA ACT, 1998 AN ACT To establish and incorporate an affiliating and teaching University at Delhi to facilitate and promote studies, research and extension work in emerging areas of higher education with focus on professional education, for example engineering, technology, management studies, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, education, law, etc., and also to achieve excellence in these and connected fields and other matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in the forty-ninth year of the Republic of India as follows:- (As amended by the Indraprastha Vishwavidyalaya (Second Amendment) Act, 1999.) (1) This Act may be called the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the official Gazettee, appoint. 2. Title: Accounts and Audit of Central Commission

.....in connection with such audit shall be payable by the Central Commission to the Comptroller and Auditor-General. (3) The Comptroller and Auditor-General and any person appointed by him in connection with the audit of the accounts of the Central Commission under this Act shall have the same rights and privileges and authority in connection with such audit as the Comptroller and Auditor-General generally has in connection with the audit of Government accounts and, in particular, shall have the right to demand the production of books, accounts, connected vouchers and other documents and papers and to inspect any of the offices of the Central Commission. (4) The accounts of the Central Commission, as certified by the Comptroller and Auditor-General or any other person appointed by him in this behalf, together with the audit report thereon shall be forwarded annually to the Central Government by the Central Commission and the Central Government shall cause the audit report to be laid, as soon as may be after it is received, before each House of Parliament.

Title: Amendment of Section 80-hhd

In section 80-HHD of the Income-tax Act, after sub-section (6) and before the Explanation, the following sub-section shall be inserted with effect from the 1st day of April, 1999, namely:-- (7) Where a deduction under sub-section (1) is claimed and allowed in respect of profits derived from the business of a hotel, such part of profits shall not qualify to the extent for deduction for any assessment year under any other provisions of this Chapter under the heading "C.--Deductions in respect of certain incomes," and shall in no case exceed the profits and gains of such hotel.'

(1) The State Government shall appoint annually an Auditor to audit the accounts of the Board and fix the remuneration which shall be paid to such Auditor from the Board Fund. The Auditor shall send his report to the State Government.
