This Act has been extended to Berar by the Berar Laws Act, 1941 (4 of 1941), to Goa, Daman and Diu by Reg. 12 of 1962, sec. 3 and Sch.; to Dadra and Nagar Haveli by Reg. 6 of 1963, sec. 2 and Sch. I, to Pondicherry by Reg. 7 of 1963, sec. 3 and Sch. I, and to Laccadive, Minicoy and Amindivi Islands by Reg. 8 of 1965, sec. 3 and Sch., and has also been declared in force in the district of Khondmals by sec. 3 and Sch. of the Khondmals Laws Regulation, 1936 (4 of 1936) and in the district of Angul by sec. 3 and Sch. of the Angul Laws Regulation, 1936 (5 of 1936). Extended to Sikkim w.e.f. 1-11-1986 vide G.S.R. 529 (E), dt. 30-12-1986. This Act has been modified in its application to apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 (52 of 1961) by sec. 16 and Sch. to that Act. 2. Usury Laws Repeal Act, 1855 Section 3

.....This section shall apply to any suit, whatever its form may be, if such suit is substantially one for the recovery of a loan or for the enforcement of any agreement or security in respect of a loan {Ins.by Act 28 of 1926, s, 3.} [or for the redemption of any such security]. (4) Nothing in this section shall affect the rights of any transferee for value who satisfies the Court that the transfer to him was bona fide, and that he had at the time of such transfer no notice of any fact which would have entitled the debtor as against the lender to relief under this section. For the purposes of this sub-section, the word " notice " shall have the same meaning as is ascribed to it in section 4 of the Transfer of Property Act, 1882. (5) Nothing in this section shall be construed as derogating from the existing powers or jurisdiction of any Court.

EMPLOYEE'S COMPENSATION ACT, 1923 Chapter 2

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "accounts", in relation to commercial undertaking of a Government, includes trading, manufacturing and profit and loss accounts and balance sheets and other subsidiary accounts; (b) "appropriation accounts" means accounts which relate the expenditure brought to account during a financial year, to the several items specified in the law made in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution or of the Government of Union Territories Act, 1963 -, for the appropriation of moneys out of the Consolidate Fund of India or of a State, or of a Union territory having a Legislative Assembly, as the case may be; (c) "Comptroller and Auditor-General" means the Comptroller and Auditor-General" of India appointed under Art. 148 of the Constitution - (d) "State" means a State specified in the First Schedule to the Constitution; (e) "Union" includes a Union territory, whether having a Legislative Assembly or not.
