Title: Fouling Water of Public Spring or Reservoir

Whoever voluntarily corrupts or fouls the water of any public spring or reservoir, so as to render it less fit for the purpose for which it is ordinarily used, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both.

THE BETA RIVER BOARD (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1993 [Act, No. 49 of 1993] [27thAugust, 1993] PREAMBLE An Act further to amend the Betwa River Board Act, 1976. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Forty- fourth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title.- This Act may be called the Betwa River Board (Amendment) Act, 1993. 2. Amendment of section.- In section 3 of the Betwa River Board Act, 1976 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in clause (g), for the words "Rajghat Reservoir", the words "Rani Laxmibai Sagar" shall be substituted. 3. Amendment of section 12.- In section 12 of the principal Act, in sub- section (2), in clause (b), for the words "Rajghat Reservoir", the words "Rani Laxmibai Sagar" shall be substituted. 4. Reference to Rajghat Reservoir to be construed as reference to Rani Laxmibai Sagar.- Any reference to Rajghat Reservoir in any other law or in any rule, regulation, instrument or other document or in any proceeding shall be construed as a reference to Rani Laxmibai Sagar.

Act 47 of 1977.-The Betwa River Board Act. 1976, was enacted to provide for the establishment of a Board for the creation of a reservoir at Rajghat byconstruction, on behalf of the Governments of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. of a dam on the Betwa river at Rajghat. The Rajghat Dam Project, as then envisaged, was intended to be a project for providing irrigation facilities only. It has since been decided that generation of power should also form an integral part of the project. It is, therefore, proposed to amend the Act to alter the composition of the Board so as to include therein the Union and the Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh Ministers in charge of Power and amplify the functions of the Board so as to include within the Rajghat Dam Project generation of power also. 2. .....administration of cantonments the spirit of the reformed scheme of Government, recommended a complete revision and an algamation of the Cantonments Act(Act 15 of 1910) and the Cantonment Code, 1912, in order to bring into conformity with ordinary municipal law the system under which military cantonments are administered. The recommendations of the committee have now been examined by the Government of India and the conclusions arrived at are embodied in the BiH. The main features of the Rill are as follows:- (a) It is proposed to lake power to municipalize the government of those cantonments which contain a substantial civil population having no essential connection with or dependence upon the military administration. In other cantonments where these circumstances do not fully exist the administration of contanment. Affairs will be vested in the hands of the commanding officer of the cantonment, who for the purpose of the Act, will be constituted a corporation sole.
