THE KERALA SLUM AREAS (IMPROVEMENT AND CLEARANCE)ACT, 1981 [1] THE KERALA SLUM AREAS (IMPROVEMENT AND CLEARANCE)ACT, 1981 [1] (Act 24 of 1981) An Act to provide for the prevention, improvement and clearance of slum areas, for the acquisition of slum areas and of land required for the rehabilitation of slum dwellers and for the protection of tenants in slum areas from eviction . Preamble, "whereas it is necessary to provide for the prevention, improvement and clearance of slum areas, for the acquisition of slum areas and of land required for the rehabilitation of slum dwellers and for the protection of tenants in slum areas from eviction; be it enacted in the Thirty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows:" chapter I PRELIMINARY 1. Short title, extent and commencement."(1) This Act may be called the Kerala Slum Areas (Improvement and Clearance) Act, 1981. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Kerala.
