Title: Power to Reduce, Remit or Compound Duties

Title: Power to Reduce or Waive Penalty, Etc., in Certain Cases

.....has, in the case referred to in clause (b), co-operated in any enquiry relating to the assessment of his income and has either paid or made satisfactory arrangements for the payment of any tax or interest payable in consequence of an order passed under this Act, in respect of the relevant assessment year. Explanation : For the purposes of this sub-section, a person shall be deemed to have made full and true disclosure of his income or of the particulars relating thereto in any case where the excess of income assessed over the income returned is of such a nature as not to attract the provisions of clause (c) of sub-section (1) of section 271. Title: Power of Central Government to Reduce Fees, Charges, Etc.

(1) The Central Government may, by order notified in the Official Gazette, reduce the amount of any fee, charge or other sum specified in any provision contained in this Act, as payable in respect of any matter, either to the Central Government or to any Registrar, any Additional, Joint, Deputy, or Assistant Registrar or any other officer of the Central Government, and thereupon such provision shall, during the period for which the order is in force, have effect as if the reduced fee had been substituted for the fee specified in such provision. (2) Any order notified under sub-section (1) may, by a like order, be cancelled or varied at any time by the Central Government. (3) Nothing in this section shall be deemed to affect the power of the Central Government under section 641 to alter any of the fees specified in Schedule X.

Explanation 3.-The statement, in any document whatever, of a fact other than the facts referred to in this section, shall not preclude the admission of oral evidence as to the same fact. Title: Power to Suspend, Reduce or Remit the Amount of Compulsory Deposit

Where the State Government has suspended payment of land-revenue, or reduced or remitted the amount of land-revenue, payable in any year in respect of any land, then, the Central Government may, by order, suspend payment of the compulsory deposit, or reduce or remit the amount of such deposit payable in that year under section 4 by a person falling under clause (a) of section 2.
