In these Statutes,- (a) "Act" means the Banaras Hindu University Act, 1915; (b) all words and expressions used herein and defined in the Act shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them in the Act. 2. Emoluments, terms and conditions of service of theVice-Chancellor.- (1) There shallbe paid to the Vice- Chancellor a salary of two thousand five hundred rupees per mensem and he shallbe entitled, without payment of rent, to use a furnished residence through outhisterm of office and no charge shall fall on the Vice-Chancellor personally in respectof the maintenance of such residence. Insurance Act, 1938 Complete Act

.....to the business of insurance. Whereas it is expedient to consolidate and amend the law relating to the business of insurance; It is hereby enacted as foltows :- This Act has been applied to- (i) the partially excluded areas in the District of Darjesling, see Bengal Government Notification No. 1902-Com., dated 28-6-1939, Calcutta Gazette, dated 16-7-1939; (ii) the partially excluded areas in the Province of Orissa with effect from 14-10-1939, see Orissa Laws Validating Regulation, 1943 (1 of 1943). The Act has been extended to the new Provinces and Merged States by the S.3OF THE Merged States (Laws) Act, 1949 (1-1-1950) and to the States of Manipur, Tripura and Vindhya Pradesh by the Union Territories (Laws) Act, 1950 (30 of 1950), section 3 (16-4-1950). Manipur and Tripura are Union territories now and Vindhya Pradesh has been merged with the State of Madhya Pradesh -- See Act 37 of 1956, section 9(1)(e). It has been extended to the Union territories of- (1) Goa, Daman and Diu by Regn. 12 of 1962 (15-12-1963); (2) Dadra and Nagar Haveli, by Regn. 6 of 1963 (1-7-1965); (3) Pondicherry, by Regn. 7 of 1963 (1-10-1963); and (4) Laccadiv, Minicoy and Amindivi Islands, by Regn......

.....the particulars referred to in clause (a)(i) of subsection (2) in respect of all loans made during every such period as may be specified in the order, And upon the issue of such orders a money-lender electing to deliver a periodical statement as provided in this sub-section shall deliver or cause to be delivered the same within a period of 30 days from the date of expiry of every such period.] (3) No money-lender shall receive any payment from a debtor on account of any loan without giving him a plain and complete receipt for the payment. The Bombay Money Lenders Act, 1946 Complete Act

.....other property, whether moveable or immoveable, and includes a wholesale or retail merchant, a commission agent, - a broker, a manufacturer, a contractor, a factory owner, but does not include an artisan or a person who sells his agricultural produce or cattle or buys agricultural produce or cattle, for his use. Explanation."For the purposes of this clause an "artisan" means a person who does not employ more than ten workers in a manufacturing process on any one day of the twelve months immediately preceding. NOTES: (A) Changes made by the new amendment in two of the definitions have created disturbance in business community and especially the money-lenders who were advancing loans to traders. (B) Definition of word LOAN in sub-section 2 has been amended by addition of words WHETHER IN CASH OR KIND AND after the words ADVANCING LOANS. These words appear to have been added to clarify the word loan as to include the advance in kind like grains advanced with condition to return one and half times after harvest. The definition of word LOAN in sub section (9) even prior to the amendment states that the loan meant an advance whether of money or in kind. Thus this particular amendment.....
