Definitions - In this Act unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context "(1) Original clause (1) was re-numbered as clause (1-B) and clause (1) and (1-A) were inserted by Tamil Nadu District Municipalities Act, 1930; clause (1) was omitted and clause (1-A) were re-numbered as clause (1) by Madras City Municipal District Municipalities and Local Boards (Amendment) Act, 1938 and for the clause as so re-numbered the present clause was substituted by the Adaptation (Amendment) Order of 1950. Title: Power to Make Rules

.....of the Society; (j) the regulation of the procedure generally of the Society and Managing Body. (2) The Central Government shall cause every rule made under this section to be laid as soon as may be after the rule is made before each House of Parliament, while it is in session, for a total period of thirty days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions, and if, before the expiry of the session immediately, following the session or the successive sessions aforesaid, both Houses agree in making any modification in the rule or both Houses agree that the rule should not be made, that rule shall thereafter have effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that rule". _____________________________ 1. Title: Procedure on Petition

.....of the proceedings and, if such suit is so instituted, shall continue the stay until the suit is finally decided. (4) If no such undertaking is given, or if after the expiry of the three months no such suit has been instituted, the court shall itself decide the question. (5) On completion of the inquiry provided for in sub-section (2), the Court shall either dismiss the petition or pass thereon such other order as it thinks fit; Provided that, where a suit has been instituted in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (3), no order shall be passed by the court which conflicts with the final decision therein. (6) Save as provided in this section, the Court shall not try or determine any question of title between the petitioner and any person claiming title adversely to the trust.

Title: Power of Magistrate to Order a Person to Be Measured or Photographed

If a Magistrate is satisfied that, for the purposes of any investigation of proceeding under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (5 of 1898)1 it is expedient to direct any person to allow his measurements or photograph to be taken, he may make an order to that effect, and in that case the person to whom the order relates shall be produced or shall attend at the time and place specified in the order and shall allow his measurements or photograph to be taken, as the case may be, by a police officer: Provided that no order shall be made directing any person to be photographed except by a magistrate of the first class: Provided further, that no order shall be made under this section unless the person has at some time been arrested in connection with such investigation or proceeding. ________________________ 1. .....and assets of the debtor and determine the same by order in writing, and it shall not be necessary to frame a schedule under the provisions of section 33; (iv) the property of the debtor shall be realised with all reasonable despatch and thereafter, when practicable, distributed in a single dividend; (v) the debtor shall apply for his discharge within six months from the date of adjudication; and (vi) such other modifications as may be prescribed with the view of saving expense and simplifying procedure: Provided that the Court may at any time direct that the ordinary procedure provided for in this Act shall be followed in regard to the debtor's estate, and thereafter the Act shall have effect accordingly.

Title: Extent and Transfer of Sanads

(1) No district pleader shall hold a sanad in respect of more than one district at the same time: [1][Provided that when a district for which a sanad is to be issued comprises any area which for the purposes of administration of revenue or criminal justice or both is also included in any other district the sanad may be held in respect of both such districts.] (2) On the application of a district Pleader holding a sanad which is available for any [2][* * *] district the High Court may from time to time, by endorsement on such sanad, render the same available for any other district. (1) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Court, in regard to proceedings under this Act, shall have the same powers and shall follow the same procedure as it has and follows in the exercise of original civil jurisdiction. (2) Subject as aforesaid, High Courts and District Courts, in regard to proceedings under this Act in Courts subordinate to them, shall have the same powers and shall follow the same procedure as they respectively have and follow in regard to civil suits.
