EXPLOSIVES ACT, 1884 Explosives Act, 1884 An Act to regulate the manufacture, possession, use, sale, [2 transport, import and export] of Explosives. Whereas, it is expedient to regulate the manufacture, possession, use, sale, transport and importation of explosives. It is hereby enacted as follows: 1. Short title. .....Be it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows :- SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE AND COMMENCEMENT -(1) This Act may be called the Finance Act, 2002. (2) Save as otherwise provided in this Act, Sections 2-to116-shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of April, 2002. SECTION 02: INCOME TAX (1) Subject to the provisions of sub-sections (2) and (3), for the assessment year commencing on the 1st day of April, 2002, income tax shall be charged at the rates specified in Part I of the First Schedule and such tax as reduced by the rebate of income tax calculated under Chapter VIII-A of the Income Tax Act, 1961(43 of 1961) (hereinafter referred to as the Income Tax Act) shall be increased by a surcharge for purposes of the Union calculated in each case in the manner provided therein. (2) In the cases to which Paragraph A of Part I of the First Schedule applies, where the assessee has, in the previous year, any net agricultural income exceeding five thousand rupees, in addition to total income, and the total income exceeds fifty thousand rupees, then,- (a) the net agricultural income shall be taken into account, in the manner provided.....

ACT 32 OF 1978 (ii) The Indian Explosives Act, 1884 was enacted nearly a century ago when there were no indigenous manufacturers of high explosives in this country and only a few simpler types of explosives were manufactured. 2. After Independence many large and small companies began to manufacture high explosives. There was a general complaint from the industry that the Explosives Act, which was based on the old British pattern, was not adequate to meet the country's growing requirements and resulted in difficulties for the Industry. With a view to removing the short-comings in the Indian Explosives Act and to obviate the difficulties experienced by the Industry, the Government appointed in 1966 a Committee on Explosives to suggest ways and means for removal of the difficulties experienced in the working of the Act. This Committee submitted its report suggesting a number of amendments to the Indian Explosives Act. These recommendations have been accepted by the Government.
