.....is anything repugnant in the subject or context- (a) "Collector", "land" and "person interested" have the same meaning as in the Land Acquisition Act, 1884 (Act 1 of 1894); Explanation. Land for the purpose of this Act includes trees, buildings and standing crops on it, and easement. (b) "court" means a principal Civil Court of original jurisdiction, and includes the court of any Additional Judge, Subordinate Judge or Munsif whom the State Government may appoint, by name or by virtue of his office, to perform, concurrently with any such principal Civil Court, all or any of the functions of the Court under this Act within any specified local limits and, in the case of Munsif up to the limits of the pecuniary jurisdiction with which he is vested under S.19 of the Bengal, Agra and Assam Civil Courts Act, 1887 (Act XII of 1887); (c) "displaced person" means- (i) any person who, on account of this setting up to the two Dominions of India and Pakistan or on account of civil disturbances or the fear of such disturbances in area now forming part of Pakistan has been compelled to leave his place of residence in such area after the 1st day of March, 1947 and who has subsequently.....

.....by the Government in that behalf: Provided that the Government may, by notification, exempt any municipal council from the provisions of this section. Section 91 - Discretionary functions of municipal councils Every municipal council may, in its discretion, provide either wholly or in part for all or any of the following matters, namely:-- (a) laying out, whether in areas previously built upon or not new public streets and acquiring the land for that purpose, including the land requisite for the construction of buildings or curtilages thereof, to abut on such street; (b) constructing, establishing or maintaining public parks, gardens, libraries, museums, mental hospitals, halls, offices, dharmasalas, choultries, musafirkhanas, rest-houses, homes for the disabled and destitute persons and other public buildings; 1 [(c) providing shelter for destitute women;] (d) constructing and maintaining, where necessary, suitable sanitary houses for the habitation of the poor and granting loans for construction of such houses or for effecting necessary improvements connected therewith; (e) providing accommodation for any class of servants other than sweepers and scavengers.....

.....Any wages required to be paid by an employer but not paid by him, shall be recoverable as delayed wages under the provisions of the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 (Central Act IV of 1936). Application of the payment of Wages Act, 1936 to catering establishments:- 16. (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 (Central Act IV of 1936) (hereinafter in this section referred to as the said Act) the Government may, by notification, direct that, subject to the provisions of sub-section (2), the said Act or any of the provisions thereof or the rules made thereunder shall apply to all or any class of employees in catering establishments to which this Act applies. (2) On the application of the provisions of the said Act to any catering establishment under sub-section (1), the Inspector appointed under this Act shall be deemed to be the Inspector for the purpose of the enforcement of the provisions of the said Act within the local limits of his jurisdiction. (3) The Government may, by like notification, cancel or vary any notification issued under sub-section (1). Prohibition of employment of children:- 17. .....proposed extinction of the rights of the public as well as of persons as aforesaid. The provisions of sections 9, 10 and 11 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (Central Act I of 1894) shall, so far as may be, apply to the proceedings held by the Deputy Commissioner under this sub-section. (4) The Deputy Commissioner shall submit to the State Government therecord of the proceedings held by him with the report, containing his recommendations on the objections, if any, received by him stating the amount of compensation, if any, which, in his opinion, are payable to any person. (5) If the State Government is satisfied after considering the record ofthe proceedings and the report, if any, made under sub-section (4) that the public road, street, lane or path, or part thereof, specified in the notification under sub-section (1) is not required for the use of the public, a declaration shall be published in the official Gazette that all rights of the public as well as of all persons in or over such road, street, lane, or path, or part thereof, are extinguished; and all such rights shall thereupon be extinguished, and such road, street, lane or path, or part thereof, shall be at the.....

Section 160 - Arrear of land revenue and defaulter (1) Any instalment of land revenue or part thereof which is not paid on the date prescribed for payment under section 159 shall become an arrear of land revenue and the person responsible for the payment shall become a defaulter. (2) A statement of account, certified by the Deputy Commissioner or bythe Assistant Commissioner shall, for the purpose of this Chapter be conclusive evidence of the existence of the arrear of land revenue, of its amount and of the person who is the defaulter: Provided that nothing in this sub-section shall prejudice the rights of such person to make payment under protest and to question the correctness of the accounts in separate proceedings before the Deputy Commissioner or the Assistant Commissioner, as the case may be. Title: Power to Require Repair of Streets and to Declare Such Streets Public

(2) After such work has been carried out by such owners or as providedin section 264 by the municipal council at the expense of such owners, the street or part thereof in which such work has been done, shall on the joint requisition of a majority of the said owners, be declared by a public notice, put up therein by the municipal council, to be a public street. (3) If the notice under sub-section (1) is not complied with and such workis executed by the municipal council as provided in section 264, the expenses thereby incurred shall be apportioned by the municipal council, between such owners in such manner as it may think fit, regard being had, if it deems it necessary, to the amount and value of any work already done by the owners or occupiers of any such lands or buildings. _______________________________ 1.
