.....ACT, 1956 MEDICAL COUNCIL ACT, 1956 102 of 1956 30th December, 1956 "The objects of this Bill are to amend the Indian Medical Council Act, 1933 (Act 27 of 1933)- (a) to give representation to licentiate members of the medical profession, a large number of whom are still practising in the country, (b) to provide for the registration of the names of citizens of India who have obtained foreign medical qualifications which are not at present recognised .under the existing Act; (e) to provide for the temporary' recognition of medical qualifications granted by medical institutions in countries outside India with which no scheme of reciprocity exists in cases where the medical practitioners concerned are attached for the time being to any medical institution in India for the purpose of teaching or research or for any charitable object; (d) to provide for the formation of a Committee of Post-graduate Medical Education for the purpose of assisting the Medical Council of India to prescribe standards of post-graduate medical education for the guidance of Universities and to advise Universities in the matter of securing uniform standards for post-graduate medical education.....

.....fail to elect the requisite number of members, or the President or the Vice-President, the State Government shall nominate such registered practitioner or practitioners as it deems fit, to fill up the vacancy or vacancies; and the practitioners so nominated shall be deemed to have been duly elected under this section. (7) Where any dispute arises regarding any election of a member or the President or Vice-President, it shall be referred to the State Government, and the decision of that Government shall be final. SECTION 04: TERM OF OFFICE (1) The State Government shall, by notification in the Official Gazette, publish the names of the members, both elected and nominated. (2) Save as otherwise provided by this Act, a member, whether elected or nominated, shall hold office for a term of five years from the date of publication of the notification under sub-section (1): Provided that, where a person is elected by members of a medical faculty of a University or governing body of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, he shall cease to hold office as a member if he ceases to belong to that faculty or body, as the case may be. (viii) "Second Schedule" and "Third Schedule" means the Second Schedule and Third Schedule respectively of the Act ; (ix) "Syllabus" and "Curriculum" mean the Syllabus and Curriculum for different courses of study as specified by the Homoeopathy (Diploma Course) Regulations, 1983, the Homoeopathy (Graded Degree Course) Regulations, 1983 and the Homoeopathy (Degree Course) Regulations, 1983 ; 4(x) 'teaching experience' means teaching experience in the subject concerned in a Homoeopathic College and includes teaching experience in the subjects of Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, gained in the Medical Colleges, recognised by Medical Council of India; (xi) "Visitor" means a Visitor appointed under sub-section (i) of section 18-of the Act REGULATION 03: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS. 5There shall be attached to every Homoeopathic College a hospital having not less than 25 beds, having the requirements, norms and standards as specified.....

.....any premium or other payment made on an insurance policy other than a contract for a deferred annuity as is not in excess of twenty per cent of the actual capital sum assured. Explanation : In calculating any such actual capital sum assured, no account shall be taken (i) of the value of any premiums agreed to be returned, or (ii) of any benefit by way of bonus or otherwise over and above the sum actually assured, which is to be or may be received under the policy by any person. The existing law on the subject is to be found in the Geneva Convention Act, 1911 (an Act of the United Kingdom) as applied to India by the Gevena Convention Act, 1911 (British India) Order-in-Council dated the 24th October, 1916, and the Geneva Convention Implementing Act, 1936 (14 of 1936). The provisions of these Acts, however, are confined to extending protection to the two emblems, namely, the Red Cross and the Geneva Cross. 4.
