Whoever makes or circulates a false alarm or warning as to disaster or its severity or magnitude, leading to panic, shall on conviction, be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one yea: or with fine.

Be it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows: CHAPTER 1: PRELIMINARY: Section 1: Short title, extent and commencement: (1) This Act may be called the Disaster Management Act, 2005. (2) It extends to the whole of India.
