Damodar Valley Corporation Act, 1948 Complete Act

.....- All members, officers and servants of the Corporation, whether appointed by the Central Government or the Corporation, shall be deemed, when acting or purporting to act in pursuance of any of the provisions of this Act to be public servants within the meaning ofsection 21 of the Indian Penal Code- SECTION 57: PROTECTION OF ACTION TAKEN UNDER THE ACT (1) No suit, prosecution, or legal proceeding shall lie against any person in lhc employment of the Corporation for anything which is in good faith done or purported to be done under this Act. (2) Save as otherwise provided in the Act, no suit or other legal proceeding shall lie against the Corporation for any damage caused or likely to be caused by anything in good faith done or purported to be done under this Act. SECTION 58: EFFECT OF OTHER LAWS - The provisions of this Act or any rule made thereunder shall have effect notwithstanding anything contained in any enactment other than this Act or any instrument having effect by virtue of any enactment other than this Act. SECTION 59: POWER TO MAKE RULES - The Central Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, make rules27 to provide for all or any of the.....

.....installation is not increased: Provided further that nothing in sub-clause (c) shall apply to the power station installation of the fertiliser factory at Sindri having an aggregate capacity of 80,000 kilowatts so long as the capacity of such installation is not increased beyond 80,000-kilowatts. Title: Functions of the Corporation

The functions of the Corporation shall be-- (a) the promotion and operation of schemes for irrigation water-supply and drainage, (b) the promotion and operation of schemes for the generation transmission and distribution of electrical energy, both hydra-electric and thermal, (c) the promotion and operation of schemes for flood control in the Damodar river and its tributaries and the channel, if any, excavated by the Corporation in connection with the scheme and for the improvement of flow condition in the Hooghly river, (d) the promotion and control of navigation in the Damodar river and its tributaries and channels, if any, (e) the promotion of afforestation and control of soil erosion in the Damodar Valley, and (f) the promotion of public health and the agricultural, industrial, economic and general well-being in the Damodar Valley and its area of operation.

The Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948 Complete Act

.....is declared void under this section, it shall not be enforceable by any party to the transaction but the provisions of Sec. 65 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 (9 of 1872), shall, so far as may be, apply to such transaction as they apply to an agreement which is discovered to be void or a contract which becomes void. Damodar Valley Corporation Act,1948 Section 21

Title: Other Activities of the Corporation

(1) The Corporation may establish, maintain and operate laboratories, experimental and research stations and farms for conducting experiments and research for-- (a) utilising the water, electrical energy and other resources in the most economical manner for the development of the Damodar Valley, (b) determining the effect of its operations on the flow conditions in the Hooghly river, (c) making improvements in navigation conditions in the port of Calcutta, and (d) carrying out any other function specified under section 12. (2) The Corporation may set up its own planning, designing, construction and operating agencies, or make arrangements therefor with the participating Governments, local authorities, educational and research institutions or any person carrying on the business of an architect, an engineer or a contractor.

Title: Penalty for Placing Carcass of Infective Animal in River, Etc.

Whoever places or causes or permits to be placed in any river, lake, canal or other water or in the sea within such distance from the shore, as may be prescribed the carcass or any part of the carcass of any animal which at the time of its death was infected or which was destroyed on account of its being infective or suspected to be infective, in contravention of the provisions of section 22 shall, on conviction, be punished, in the case of a first conviction with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to one hundred rupees or with both, and in the case of a subsequent conviction with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both.

WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the law which governs the relations of landlords and tenants of agricultural lands; AND WHEREAS, on account of the neglect of a landholder or disputes betsveen a landholder and his tenants, the cultivation of his estate has seriously suffered, or for the purpose of improving the economic and social conditions of peasants or ensuring the full and efficient use of land for agriculture, it is expedient to assume management of estates held by landholders and to regulate and impose restrictions on the transfer of agricultural lands, dwelling houses, sites and lands appurtenant thereto belonging to or occupied by agriculturists, agricultural labourers and artisans in the Province of Bombay and to make provisions for certain other purpose hereinafter appearing; It is enacted as follows:- CHAPTER 1 Preliminary Section 1 Short title, extent and commencement (1) This Act may be called the BOMBAY.....
