Central Provinces Court of Wards Act, 1899 Part I

.....or to enter into any contract which may involve him in pecuniary liability1[nor shall his property be liable under section 68 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 IX of 1972] ; and no suit shall be brought in any Civil Court whereby to charge any person upon any promise made after he has ceased to be a Government ward to pay any debt contracted [or discharge any liability arising under section 68 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, X of 1972] during the period when he was a Government ward, or upon any ratification made after he has ceased to be a Government ward of any promise or contract made during the period aforesaid, whether there is or is not any new consideration for such promise or ratification. 2[Nothing in this section shall preclude the Court of Wards from satisfying, in whole or in part as it may deem fit, any claim under section 68 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872. BENGAL LAND REVENUE SALES ACT, 1859 BENGAL LAND REVENUE SALES ACT, 1859 11 of 1859 4th May, 1859 An Act to improve the law relating to sales of land for arrears of revenue in the Lower Provinces under the Bengal Presidency. Preamble. Whereas it is expedient to discontinue the practice of obtaining the previous sanction of the Board of Revenue to sales of estates for arrears of revenue, or other demands of Government, in the Province of Cuttack; and whereas it is just that a person having a lien upon an estate, and paying the money necessary to protect it from sale for arrears of revenue, should be reasonably secured and whereas it is expedient to afford shares in estates, who duly pay their shares of the sadar jama of their estates, easy means of protecting their shares from sale by reason of the default of their co-sharers ; and whereas it is expedient to afford landholders, particularly absentees, facilities in guarding against the accidental sale of their estates for arrears of revenue by reason of the neglect or fraud of their agents ; and it is therefore proper, for the above and other purposes, to improve the law relating to sales of land for arrears of revenue.....

.....1950, the Parliament (Prevention of Disqualification) Act, 1951 and the Prevention of Disqualification (Parliament and Part C States Legislatures) Act, 1953. The Act of 1951 exempted certain offices for specified periods which have expired and the Act is thus spent. .....minor or of unsound mind or an idiot, his guardian, committee or other legal curator shall be deemed to be an Intermediary for the purposes of this Act. All acts done by an Inter mediary under this Act shall be deemed to have been done by his heirs and successors-in-interest and shall be binding on them. (v) 'khas possession' used with reference to the possession of an Intermediary of any land used for agricultural or horticultural purposes, means the possession of such Intermediary by cultivating such land or carrying on horticultural operations thereon himself with his own stock or by his own servants or by hired labour or with hired stock ; Explanation " 'Land used for horticultural purposes' means land used for the purpose of growing fruits, flowers or vegetables. (vi) 'land' means lands of whatever descrip tion and includes land which is covered with water, but does not include houses or buildings; (vii) 'prescribed' means prescribed by rules made by the Government under this Act; (viii) 'raiyat' means any person who holds land for the purposes of agriculture with rights of occupancy or with permanent and heritable rights therein or is a raiyat within the meaning.....
