.....To meet the immediate requirements of the country soon after independence the Merchant Shipping Laws. (Extension to Acceding States and Amendment) Act, 1949 was enacted, by which the British Merchant Shipping Acts 1894 to 1938 were extended to the Acceding States (later known as Part B States) and Indian Consular Officers were empowered to perform functions in relation to Indian ships outside India and provision was made to enable Government to prescribe the proper national colours for ships registered in India, The Control of Shipping Act, 1947, was another short-term measure which continued the war-time control over Indian shipping and controlled the coastal trade by a system of licensing. This Act, which has been renewed from time to time, is due to expire on the 31st March, 1958. 3. .....this section in relation to any conference shall include a statement of the date from which the list or amendment takes or took effect; and the fact that any person is or was included or not included at any time among the persons entitled to diplomatic immunities as representatives attending the conference or as members of the official staff of any such representative may, if a list of those persons has been so published, be conclusively proved by producing the Gazette containing the list or, as the case may be, the last list taking effect before that time, together with the Gazettes (if any) containing notices of the amendments taking effect before that time, and by showing that the name of that person is or was at that time included or not included in the said list. (1) Her Majesty may by Order in Council provide for including among the countries to which the foregoing section applies any country specified in the Order, being a country within the Commonwealth. (2) No recommendation shall be made to Her Majesty in Council to make an Order under this section unless a draft thereof has been laid before Parliament and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.

Title: Power of Central Government to Impose Transitional Product Specific Safeguard Duty on Imports from the Peoples Republic of China

.....undertaking", "free trade zone" and "special economic zone" shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them in Explanation 1 to sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944). (4) The duty chargeable under this section shall be in addition to any other duty imposed under this Act or under any other law for the time being in force. Title: Operation of existing law in relation to India in view of India's becoming a Republic

.....such modification of any existing law to which this Act extends as may appear to him to be necessary or expedient in view of India's becoming a Republic while remaining a member of the Commonwealth, and sub-section (1) of this section shall have effect in relation to any such law as modified by such an Order save in so far as the contrary intention appears in the order. An Order in Council under this section- (a) May be made either before or after India becomes a Republic and may be revoked or varied by a subsequent Order in Council; and (b) Shall be subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament. (4) Any increase attributable to an Order in Council under this section .in sums payable out of moneys provided by Parliament or out of the Consolidated Fund of the United Kingdom or the growing produce thereof shall be defrayed out of moneys so provided, or out of that Fund or the growing produce thereof, as the case may be.
