(1) This Act may be called the Karnataka State Minorities Commission Act, 1994. (2) It shall extend to the whole of the State of Karnataka. (3) It shall come into force at once. Section 2 - Definitions In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Commission" means the Karnataka State Minorities Commission constituted under section 3 of the Act; (b) "Government" means the Government of Karnataka; (c) "member" means a member of the Commission; (d) "minorities" means the persons belonging to minority communities residing in the State of Karnataka whom the Government has recognised as minorities.
