Designs Act, 2000 Chapter 2

Title: Registration of Designs

.....for examination, by an examiner appointed under sub-section (2) of section 3, as to whether such design is capable of being registered under this Act and the rules made thereunder and consider the report of the examiner on such reference. (2) Every application under sub-section (1) shall be in the prescribed form and shall be filed in the patent office in the prescribed manner and shall be accompanied by the prescribed fee. (3) A design may be registered in not more than one class, and, in case of doubt as to the class in which a design ought to be registered, the Controller may decide the question. (4) The Controller may, if he thinks fit, refuse to register any design presented to him for registration; but any person aggrieved by any such refusal may appeal to the High Court. (5) An application which, owing to any default or neglect on the part of the applicant, has not been completed so as to enable registration to be effected within the prescribed time shall be deemed to be abandoned. Regulation 2 Definitions .-(1) In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires- (a) "Act" means the Insurance Act, 1938 (4 of 1938); (b) "Authority" means the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority established under sub-section (1) of S.3 of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999 (41 of 1999); (c) All words and expressions used herein and not defined but defined in the Insurance Act, 1938 (4 of 1938), or in the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999 (41 of 1999), or in the Companies Act, 1956 (1 of 1956) shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them in those Acts. Regulation 3 Preparation of financial statements, management report and auditor's report (1) An insurer carrying on life insurance business, after the commencement of these Regulations, shall comply with the requirements of Schedule A. Title: Officers of the University

.....shall when present, preside at any convocation of the University. (3) He shall have such other powers as may be conferred on him by or under this Act. Section 13 - The Pro-Chancellor (1) The Minister incharge of Higher Education in Karnataka shall, by virtue of his office be the Pro-Chancellor of the University. State Universities Act, 2000 (29 of 2001) Section 19

Title: The Finance Officer

(1) The Finance Officer shall be a whole time officer of the University appointed by the Vice-Chancellor with the approval of the Syndicate from out of a panel of not less than three persons being officers in the cadre of Joint Controller of State Accounts Department or an officer of the Rank of Deputy Accountant General having experience in audit, accounting and financial administration, recommended by the Vice-Chancellor to the Syndicate. If none in the panel is approved by the Syndicate within the time prescribed by the Statutes, the Chancellor may in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor, appoint such other person as he deems fit to be the Finance Officer. (2) The tenure of appointment and the emoluments of the Finance Officer and other terms and conditions shall be as determined by the Chancellor. (3) The Finance Officer shall, subject to the control of the Finance Committee, exercise such powers and perform such functions as may be prescribed by the Statutes, the Ordinances and the Regulations or as may be required from time to time by the Vice-Chancellor or the Registrar. Title: Authorities of the Universities

Title: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Board

.....(1) There shall be a Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Board to plan the academic courses, research programmes, interdisciplinary activities, interaction with outside agencies for training, extension and research, and to monitor from time to time the implementation of the programmes and activities formulated by it. .....Be it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows:- SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE, EXTENT AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Act may be called the Designs Act, 2000 (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act, and any reference in any such provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the coming into force of that provision. SECTION 02: DEFINITIONS -In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,- (a) "article" means any article of manufacture and any substance, artificial, or partly artificial and partly natural; and includes any part of an article capable of being made and sold separately; (b) "Controller" means the Controller-General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks referred to inSec.3-; (c) "copyright" means the exclusive right to apply a design to any article in any class in which the design is registered; (d) "design" means only the features of shape, configuration, pattern, ornament or composition.....
