.....by such person or authority as he may specify in this behalf, for a period not exceeding six months: Provided that the Governor may by a further order or orders extend the operation of the initial order by a period not exceeding six months on each occasion. (3) Every order made under sub-paragraph (2) of this paragraph with the reasons therefor shall be laid before the Legislature of the State and shall cease to operate at the expiration of thirty days from the date on which the State Legislature first sits after the issue of the order, unless, before the expiry of that period it has been approved by the State Legislature." 12. Explanation.--Inits application to the marriages referred to in this sub-section, section 24 ofthe Special Marriage Act, 1954 (43 of 1954) shall be subject to the followingmodifications, namely:-- (i)the reference in sub-section (1) thereof to clauses (a), (b), (c) and (d) ofsection 4 of that Act shall be construed as a referenceto clauses (a), (b), (c) and (d) respectively of section 4 of this Act, and (ii)nothing contained in section 24 aforesaid shall apply to any marriage-- (a)which is not solemnized under this Act; or (b)which is deemed to be solemnized under this Act by reason of the provisionscontained in section 17: Providedthat the registration of any such marriage as is referred to in sub-clause (b)may be declared to be of no effect if the registration was in contravention ofsubsection (2) of section 17. Title: Application of Other Laws Not Barred

(1) Save as otherwise provided in sub-section (2) or elsewhere in this Act, the provisions of this Act shall be in addition to, and not in derogation of, any other law for the time being in force. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in section 3 or elsewhere in this Act, so much of the provisions of this Act, as relate to matters in respect of which specific provisions exist in the- (i) Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 (2 of 1934), or the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (10 of 1949), or (ii) State Bank of India Act, 1955 (23 of 1955), or the State Bank of India (Subsidiary Banks) Act, 1959 (38 of 1959), or (iii) Insurance Act, 1938 (4 of 1938), shall not apply to a banking company, the State Bank of India or subsidiary bank, as defined in the State Bank of India (Subsidiary Banks) Act, 1959 (38 of 1959), or an insurer, as the case may be.

In section 16 of the Income-tax Act, in clause (iv), for item (1), the following item shall be substituted with effect from the 1st day of April, 1970, namely :- "(1) where the conveyance is a motor car and amount of the salary due to the assessee in respect of the previous year - (a) does not exceed Rs. 25,000 .............. Rs. 200; (b) exceeds Rs. 25,000 ........... Rs. 250;".

Title: Chief Registrar

(1) The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint a Chief Registrar for the State. (2) The State Government may also appoint such other officers with such designations as it thinks fit for the purpose of discharging, under the superintendence and direction of the Chief Registrar, such of his functions as he may, from time to time, authorise them to discharge. (3) The Chief Registrar shall be the chief executive authority in the State for carrying into execution the provisions of this Act and the rules and orders made thereunder subject to the directions, if any given by the State Government. (4) The Chief Registrar shall take steps, by the issue of suitable instructions or otherwise, to co-ordinate, unify and supervise the work of registration in the Slate for securing an efficient system or registration and shall prepare and submit to the State Government in such manner and at such intervals as may be prescribed, a report on the working of this Act in the State alongwith the statistical report referred to in sub-section (2) of section 19.

.....be liable to the State Government for the payment of land revenue equal to the amount of cess, rent or assessment which is payable in respect thereof immediately before the appointed day to the superior holder, or as the case may be, to the State Government under the terms of the tenure, or (ii) shall be held free from payment of land revenue, if no such cess, rent or assessment is payable in respect thereof immediately before the appointed day. NOTES The intention of the section indicates that it is meant for "extending the benefit to the public trusts even in the cases where the property is let out and not necessarily used physically, therefore the trustees are entitled to claim exemption certificates under section 4(2) in respect of the lands in question".
