National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007 Section 20

Title : Grants by Central Government

For the purpose of enabling the Institutes to discharge their functions efficiently under this Act, the Central Government may, after due appropriation made by Parliament by law in this behalf, pay to every Institute in each financial year such sums of money and in such manner as it may think fit. Title : Fund of Institute

(1) Every Institute shall maintain a Fund to which shall be credited,-- (a) all moneys provided by the Central Government; (b) all fees and other charges received by the Institute; (c) all moneys received by the Institute by way of grants, gifts, donations, benefactions, bequests or transfers; and (d) all moneys received by the Institute in any other manner or from any other source. (2) All moneys credited to the Fund of every Institute shall be deposited in such banks or invested in such manner as the Institute may, with the approval of the Central Government, decide. (3) The Fund of every Institute shall be applied towards meeting the expenses of the Institute including expenses incurred in the exercise of its powers and discharge of its duties under this Act. Title : Chairman of Council

(1) The Chairman of the Council shall ordinarily preside at the meetings of the Council: Provided that, in his absence, the Vice-Chairman of the Council shall preside at the meetings of the Council. (2) It shall be the duty of the Chairman of the Council to ensure that the decisions taken by the Council are implemented. (3) The Chairman shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as are assigned to him by this Act. Title : Procedure and Power of the Tribunal

(1) The Tribunal shall not be bound by the procedure laid down in the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908(5 of 1908) but shall be guided by the principles of natural justice and subject to the other provisions of this Act and any rules made thereunder, the Tribunal shall have the power to lay down and regulate its own procedure including the fixing of place and time of its inquiry and deciding whether to sit in public or in camera.
