Education Act, 1983 Chapter 1

.....Karnataka Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioners' Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1961 (Karnataka Act 9 of 1961); and (f) the Karnataka Homoeopathic Practitioners Act, 1961 (Karnataka Act 35 of 1961); (v) such other class or classes of institutions, subject to such conditions and to such extent as the State Government may, by notification, specify: Provided that nothing in Chapter III, section 35 of Chapter V, Chapter VII and Chapters IX to XV (both inclusive) except sections 57 and 58 of Chapter X shall be applicable to commerce institutions. (4) It shall come into force on such2[date] as the State Government may, by notification, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of the Act. ________________________ 1. Prohibition of Admission of Students to the Un-recognised and Un-affiliated Educational Institutions Act, 1992 Section 2

Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University Act, 2004 Chapter II

Title: The University

.....through the Vice Chancellor such action, if any, as it has taken or proposes to take. (6) Where the Board does not within a reasonable time, take action to the satisfaction of the Sate Government, or fails to take any action the State Government may, require the Vice--Chancellor or issue such directions as are necessary and the Board shall be bound to comply with the same. (7) The Board shall furnish returns, statements, accounts or other particulars relating to the administration of the University as the State Government may, from time to time, require. (8) Not withstanding anything in the preceding sub--sections, the State Government, may, by order published in the Official Gazette, annul any proceedings of the University, which, in its opinion is not in conformity with this Act and the Statutes: Provided that before making any such order the State Government shall call upon the University to show cause why such an order should not be made and if any cause is shown within a reasonable time, shall consider the same. (9) Every order passed under sub--section (8) shall, as soon as may be, be laid before both Houses of the State Legislature.

Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997 Chapter I

Title: Preliminary

.....and religious education and teaching of philosophy; (e) observance of religious festivals; and (f) any other public religious purpose; (25) 'Rules' means the rules made under this Act; (26) 'Specific Endowment' means any property or money endowed for the performance of any specific service or charity in a Hindu religious institution or charitable institution or for the performance of any other charity. State Open University Act, 1992 Chapter I

....."Study Centre", means a centre established, maintained or for valuation and for conducting the examination or recognised by the University for the purpose of advising, councelling or for rendering any other assistance required by the students; (l) "teacher" means Professors, Readers, Lecturers and such other persons as may be designated as such by the Ordinance for imparting instruction in the University or for giving guidance or rendering assistance to students for pursuing any course of study of the University; (m) "University" means the Karnataka State Open University established under section 3 of the Act; (n) "Vice-Chancellor" and "Registrar" means respectively, the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of the University.

Education Act, 1983 Chapter 5

Title: Classification and Registration of Educational Institutions

.....or the authority competent to grant such recognition, as the case may be, before the date of commencement of this Act, in accordance with the rules or orders applicable to such recognition and the local authority or the Governing Council, as the case may be, files a statement in the prescribed form before the registering authority within a period of six months from such date. (2) No fee shall be payable for the registration of an educational institution under sub-section (1). Education Act, 1983 Chapter 6

Title: Recognition of Educational Institutions, Etc.

.....management or discipline within such time as may be specified therefor by the competent authority; (f) contravenes any of the provisions of this Act, the rules and orders made thereunder, the competent authority may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, withdraw the recognition of the institution or take such other action as is deemed necessary, after giving to the local authority or as the case may be, the Governing Council an opportunity of making its representation against such withdrawal or action. (2) Where the State Government is of the opinion that the recognition granted to any local authority institution or private educational institution should, in the public interest be withdrawn, they may after giving to the local authority or as the case may be the Governing Council of the institution one month's notice to make any representation, withdraw by notification the recognition granted to the said institution. (3) Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law for the time being in force, no educational institution which has not been recognised, or the recognition of which has been withdrawn under this Act shall be entitled to,- (a) receive any.....

Education Act, 1983 Section 38

Title: Recognition of Existing Institution, Etc.

.....established and recognised in accordance with rules in force immediately before the commencement of this Act and in existence at such commencement shall be deemed to be educational institutions established and recognised under this Act, provided they comply with the provisions of this Act and the rules made thereunder within such period and in accordance with such procedure as may be prescribed. (2) Any private educational institution imparting education which is in existence at the commencement of this Act but which has not been recognised in accordance with the rules in force immediately before such commencement shall discontinue to impart education from such commencement, unless within sixty days of such commencement, an application for recognition is made, in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the rules made thereunder and every such application shall be disposed of within sixty days of its receipt by the competent authority. No person shall run any such institution after the application for recognition is rejected.
