THE IMMORAL TRAFFIC (PREVENTION) ACT, 1956 [Act, No. 104 of 1956]1 [30th December, 1956] PREAMBLE An Act to provide in pursuance of the International Convention signed at New York on the 9th day of May, 1950, for 2 [the prevention of immoral traffic]. Be it enacted by Parliament in the Seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- ________________________ 1. This Act has been extended to Dadra and Nagar Haveli by Reg. No. 6 of 1963, section 2 and Schedule I (w.e.f. 1-7-1965), to Goa, Daman and Diu by Reg. 11 of 1963, section 3 and Schedule and to the Union Territory of Pondicherry by Act 26 of 1968, section 3 and Schedule. 2. Substituted by Act 44 of 1986, section 2, for "the Suppression of Immoral Traffic in Women and Girls" (w.e.f. 26-1-1987).

.....a grave or widespread danger to life or public health; (Added by ibid) [or ecological system] (b) "bootlegger" means a person, who distils, manufactures, stores, transports, imports, exports, sells or distributes any liquor, intoxicating drug or other intoxicant in contravention of any of the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937 (Tamil Nadu Act X of 1937) and the rules, notifications and orders made thereunder, or in contravention of any other law for the time being in force, or who knowingly expends or applies any money or supplies any animal, vehicle, vessel or other conveyance or any receptacle or any other material whatsoever in furtherance or support of the doing of any of the above mentioned things by or through any other person, or who abets in any other manner the doing of any such thing; NOTES S.2(b) " "Goonda" " Definition of " Admitedly the first and second instances ended in conviction only on 3.5.84 and the third instance was on 15.4.87 and that too in pursuance of the confession. .....ACTS Nothing in this Act shall be construed to be in derogation of the provisions of the Reformatory Schools Act, 1897 (8 of 1897), or any State Act enacted in modification of the said Act or otherwise relating to juvenile offenders. SECTION 25: REPEAL AND SAVINGS (1) As from the date of the coming into force in any State of the provisions other than section 1 of this Act, all State Acts relating to suppression of immoral traffic in119[persons] or to the prevention of prostitution, in force in that State immediately before such date shall stand repealed. (2) Notwithstanding the repeal by this Act of any State referred to in sub- section (1), anything done or any action taken (including any direction given, in any register, rule or order made, any restriction imposed) under the provisions of such State Act shall in so far as such thing or action is not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be deemed to have been done or taken under the provisions of this Act as if the said provisions were in force when such thing was done or such action was taken and shall continue in force accordingly until superseded by anything done or any action taken under this Act. Cantonments Act, 2006 Chapter XIV

Title: Removal and Exclusion from Cantonments and Suppression of Sexual Immorality

.....the owner, lessee, tenant or occupier, as the case may be, to discontinue such use of the building within such period as may be specified in the order. Section 300 - Penalty for loitering and importuning for purposes of prostitutionn (1) Whoever in a cantonment loiters for the purpose of prostitution or importunes any person to the commission of sexual immorality, shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to five thousand rupees and in case of subsequent offence shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one year. (2) No prosecution for an offence under this section shall be instituted except on the complaint of the person importuned, or of a military officer in whose presence the offence was committed, or of a member of the Military, Naval or Air Force Police, being employed in the cantonment and authorised in this behalf by the Officer Commanding the Station, in whose presence the offence was committed, or of a police officer not below the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector, who is deployed in the cantonment and authorised in this behalf by the Officer Commanding the Station with the concurrence.....
