.....ACT, 2004 THE HIMACHAL PRADESH HOUSING & URBAN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ACT, 2004 [Act No. 9 of 2004] [01st May, 2004] PREAMBLE AN ACT to re-enact the law to provide for the creation of a Development Authority to plan and develop land and create infrastructure to meet with the housing needs of different income groups and to provide for development schemes for mobilizing public and private resources for the promotion of housing colonies and related infrastructure and to provide for the creation of appropriate authority and mechanism for planned development of housing colonies. BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh in the Fifty-fifth Year of the Republic of India, as follows:- Section 1 - Short title, extent and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority Act, 2004. (2) It extends to whole of the State of Himachal Pradesh. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may by notification, appoint. Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University Act, 2004 Section 2

Title: Definitions

.....residence for students of the University maintained or recognized by the University in accordance with the provisions of this Act. (l) "Prescribed" means prescribed by the statutes or regulations made under this Act; (m) "Regulations" and "Statutes" means, respectively, the regulations and statutes made under this Act; (n) "Schedule" means the Schedule appended to this Act; (o) "Specified date" means a date specified for the purpose of any provision of this Act; (p) "University" means the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fishery Sciences University established under section 3; (q) "University area" means the area under the jurisdiction of the University; (r) "Veterinary" means the art and science of Veterinary surgery and medicine and includes; (i) the diagnosis of diseases in, and injuries to, animals; (ii) the giving of advice based upon such diagnosis; (iii) the medical or surgical treatment of animals; and (iv) the measures taken for prevention and control of live stock diseases.

.....excess shall not form part of the relevant shipping income for the purposes of this Chapter and shall be taxable under the other provisions of this Act. (2) The core activities of a tonnage tax company shall be-- (i) its activities from operating qualifying ships; and (ii) other ship-related activities mentioned as under:-- (A) shipping contracts in respect of-- (i) earning from pooling arrangements; (ii) contracts of affreightment. Explanation.--for the purposes of this sub-clause,-- (a) "pooling arrangement" means an agreement between two or more persons for providing services through a pool or operating one or more ships and sharing earnings or operating profits on the basis of mutually agreed terms; (b) "contract of affreightment" means a service contract under which a tonnage tax company agrees to transport a specified quantify of specified products at a specified rate, between designated loading and discharging ports over a specified period; (B) specific shipping trades, being-- (i) on-board or on-shore activities of passenger ships comprising of fares and food and beverages consumed on board; (ii) slot charters, space charters, joint charters,.....

.....be deemed necessary, it appears to the Kuladhipati that Kulpati:-- (i) has made default in performing any duty imposed on him, by or under this Act; or (ii) has acted in a manner prejudicial to the interests of the University; or (iii) is incapable of managing the affairs of the University, the Kuladhipati may, notwithstanding the fact that the term of office of Kulpati has not expired, by an order, in writing, stating the reasons therein, require Kulpati to relinquish his office as from such date as may be specified in the order. (4) No order under sub-section (3) shall be passed unless the particulars of the grounds on which such action is proposed to be taken are communicated to Kulpati and he is given a reasonable opportunity of showing cause against the proposed order. (5) As from the date specified in the order under sub-section (3) Kulpati shall be deemed to have relinquished the office and the office of Kulpati shall fall vacant. (Substituted by C.G. .....through the Vice Chancellor such action, if any, as it has taken or proposes to take. (6) Where the Board does not within a reasonable time, take action to the satisfaction of the Sate Government, or fails to take any action the State Government may, require the Vice--Chancellor or issue such directions as are necessary and the Board shall be bound to comply with the same. (7) The Board shall furnish returns, statements, accounts or other particulars relating to the administration of the University as the State Government may, from time to time, require. (8) Not withstanding anything in the preceding sub--sections, the State Government, may, by order published in the Official Gazette, annul any proceedings of the University, which, in its opinion is not in conformity with this Act and the Statutes: Provided that before making any such order the State Government shall call upon the University to show cause why such an order should not be made and if any cause is shown within a reasonable time, shall consider the same. (9) Every order passed under sub--section (8) shall, as soon as may be, be laid before both Houses of the State Legislature.
