(2) The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Council. (3) The President, the Vice-President or the Honorary Secretary shall hold office for a period of two years from the date on which he is chosen provided that he continues to be a member of the Council. (4) The President and the Vice-President shall, notwithstanding the expiration of his term, continue to hold office until his successor enters upon his office. (5) In the event of occurrence of any vacancy in the office of the President, the Vice-President shall act as the President until a new President is elected in accordance with the provisions of this section to fill such vacancy and enters upon his office. (6) When the President is unable to discharge his functions owing to absence, illness or any other cause, the Vice-President shall discharge his functions until the President resumes his duties.

Title: Honorary Degrees

(1) If not less than two thirds of the members of the Syndicate recommend that an honorary degree or other academic distinction be conferred on any person on the ground that he is in its opinion, by reason of eminent attainment and position, fit and proper to receive such degree or academic distinction, the Syndicate may recommend the same for the approval of the Chancellor for conferment of such degree on the person concerned. (2) The honorary degree or distinction may be conferred only in exceptional cases. It shall not be conferred as a matter of course. Only such of the persons who have contributed substantially to the advancement of Literature, Philosophy, Arts, Music, Painting or any other subject assigned to the Faculty of Arts, Science or Technology or conspicuous service rendered by them to the cause of education shall be identified for the purpose of grant of such honorary degrees. (3) A degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc) Honoris Causa may be conferred upon such persons in the branch of Science or Technology, Planning, Organising or Developing Scientific and Technological Institutions. Title: Honorary, Affiliate and Student Members

(1) The Council may choose, in such manner as may be specified, any person of eminence in matters relating to and of interest to the profession of Actuary as an honorary member of the Institute provided that he is not practicing as an Actuary. (2) Any person, who is a fellow member, or is a holder of membership considered equivalent to the fellow membership of the Institute, of any other institution similar to the Institute, whether within or outside India, may be admitted as an affiliate member for such period, and on such terms and conditions as may be specified. (3) Any person who enrolls himself for examination of the Institute, and possesses such academic qualifications as may be specified, may be admitted as a student member of the Institute on such terms and conditions as may be specified. (4) An honorary member or an affiliate member or a student member shall have no right to vote on any matter or resolution in any meeting of the Institute.

ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY ACT, 1920 ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY ACT, 1920 40 of 1920 Act 62 of 1951.- "The University Education Commission, while making certain recommendations in regard to University education generally, have also dealt with certain special problems relating to the Central Universities at Banaras, Aligarh and Delhi. These recommendations were generally approved by the Central Advisory Board of Education at their meeting in April, 1950. The Govern- ment of India, after careful consideration of the matter, have decided that while it is not necessary to change the names of the Banaras and Aligarh Universities the disqualifications imposed by the respective Acts on non-Hindus and non-Muslims being members of the Court of the University should be removed. They have also decided that other recommendations of the University Educa- tion Commission, in so far as they relate to the Central Universities, should be implemented as far as possible. It is, therefore, now proposed to amend the Aligarh Muslim University Act in order to give effect to those recommendations. 2.
