Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964 Section 68

Title: Extinction of Rights of Public and Individuals in or over Any Public Road, Street, Lane or Path Not Required for Use of Public

.....proposed extinction of the rights of the public as well as of persons as aforesaid. The provisions of sections 9, 10 and 11 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (Central Act I of 1894) shall, so far as may be, apply to the proceedings held by the Deputy Commissioner under this sub-section. (4) The Deputy Commissioner shall submit to the State Government therecord of the proceedings held by him with the report, containing his recommendations on the objections, if any, received by him stating the amount of compensation, if any, which, in his opinion, are payable to any person. (5) If the State Government is satisfied after considering the record ofthe proceedings and the report, if any, made under sub-section (4) that the public road, street, lane or path, or part thereof, specified in the notification under sub-section (1) is not required for the use of the public, a declaration shall be published in the official Gazette that all rights of the public as well as of all persons in or over such road, street, lane, or path, or part thereof, are extinguished; and all such rights shall thereupon be extinguished, and such road, street, lane or path, or part thereof, shall be at the.....

Title: Four Principal and Four Under Secretaries of State May Sit as Members in the House of Commons

After the Commencement of this Act any Four of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State for the time being, and any Four of the Under Secretaries for the time being to Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, may sit and vote as Members of the House of Commons, but not more than. Four such Principal Secretaries and not more than Four such Under Secretaries shall sit as Members of the House of Commons at the same Time.

Title: Application of Four Last Preceding Sections to Persons Appointed by Secretary of State in Council, and Certain Other Persons

(2) Subject to the provisions of this section, the said sections and rules shall, in such cases and with such exceptions and modifications as the secretary of State may decide, also apply in relation to any person who- (a) not being a person appointed as aforesaid by the Secretary of State or the Secretary of State in Council, holds or has held a reserved post; or (b) holds or has held any civil post under the Crown in India and is, or was when he was first appointed to such a post, an officer in His Majesty's forces. (3) In relation to any person who was appointed before the commence the of Part III of this Act to a civil service of, or to a civil post under, Crown in India, the provision contained in the sections aforesaid that rule as to conditions of service shall have effect so as to give to any person less favourable terms as regards remuneration or pension than were given to him by the rules in force on the date on which he was first appointed to his service or was appointed to his post, shall be construed as a provision that no such rule shall have effect so as to give to.....

Title: Person Arrested Not to Be Detained More Than Twenty-four Hours

No police officer shall detain in custody a person arrested without warrant for a longer period than under all the circumstances of the case is reasonable, and such period shall not, in the absence of a special order of a Magistrate under section 167, exceed twenty-four hours exclusive of the time necessary for the journey from the place of arrest to the Magistrate's Court.

Title: Procedure when Investigation Cannot Be Completed in Twenty-four Hours

.....the order, with his reasons for making it, to the Executive Magistrate to whom he is immediately subordinate." 5 Gujarat: In the proviso to sub-Section (2) of section 167,- (i) for paragraph (a), the following paragraph shall be substituted, namely:- "(a) the Magistrate may authorise detention of the accused person otherwise than in the custody of the police, beyond the period of fifteen days, if he is satisfied that adequate grounds exist for doing so, but no Magistrate shall authorise the detention of the accused person in custody under this section for a total period exceeding- (i) one hundred and twenty days, where the investigation relates to an offence punishable with death, imprisonment for life or imprisonment for a term of not less than ten years, (ii) sixty days, where the investigation relates to any offence; and on the expiry of the said period of one hundred and twenty days, or sixty days, as the ease may be, the accused person shall be released on bail if he is prepared to and does furnish bail, and every person released on bail under this section shall be deemed to be so released under the provisions of Chapter XXXIII for the purposes of that.....

Title: Interstate Property over Four Hundred Rupees in Value

.....who has died interstate, and not to be under four hundred rupees in value, the Commissioner shall communicate with the Administrator-General with a view to its being dealt with under the provisions of the Administrator-General's Act, 1913, or other law for the time being in force. (2)2[In areas outside the charge of a Commissioner] the property shall be delivered to the police-patel, if any, of the town or village in which the same was found, and a receipt therefor taken from the police-patel, who shall forward such property to the Magistrate to whom such police-patel is subordinate. If in any such case there be no police-patel of such town or village, the Police shall forthwith report to such Magistrate as the Magistrate of the district shall, from time to time, appoint in this behalf, and act thereafter as the said first mentioned Magistrate shall direct. ___________________ 1. Bombay Police Act, 1951, (Maharashtra) Section 84

Title: Intestate Property over Four Hundred Rupees in Value

If the property regarding which a report is made to a Magistrate under section 83 or under section 19 of the Bombay Village Police Act, 1867,1[or of that Act as in force in the Kutch area of the State of Bombay, or under section 21 of the Saurashtra Village Police Ordinance, 1949,] appears to such Magistrate to have been left by a person who has died intestate and without known heirs and to be likely, if sold in public auction, to realise more than four hundred rupees net proceeds, he shall communicate with the District Judge with a view to its being dealt with under the provision of section 10 of Bombay Regulation VIII of 1827 (Regulation to provide for the formal recognition of heirs, etc.) or other law in force. ___________________ 1. (7) "building of the warehouse class" means a building, the whole or a substantial part of which is used, or intended to be used, as a warehouse, factory, manufactory, brewery, or distillery, or for any similar purpose, which is neither a "domestic building" nor a "public building" as defined in this section, and includes a hut used or intended to be used for any of the purposes mentioned in this clause; (8) "bustee" means an area containing land not less than seven hundred square metres in area occupied by or for the purposes of any collection of huts or other structures used or intended to be used for human habitation. Explanation.-If any question arises as to whether any particular area is or is not a bustee, the Corporation shall decide the question and its decision shall be final; (9) "Kolkata" means the area described in Schedule I; 3 Clause (10) omitted by s. 2 of the Calcutta Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 1996 (West Ben.
