Securities Contracts Regulation Act, 1956 (42 of 1956) Section 18

Title: Exclusion of Spot Delivery Contracts from Sections. 13, 14, 15 and 17

(1) Nothing contained in sections 13, 14,15 and 17 shall apply to spot delivery contracts. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), if the Central Government is of opinion that in the interest of the trade or in the public interest it is expedient to regulate and control the business of delaying in spot delivery contracts also in any State or area (whether section 13 has been declared to apply to the State or area or not), it may, by notification in the Official Gazette, declare that the provisions of section 17 shall also apply to such State or area in respect of spot delivery contracts generally or in respect of spot delivery contracts for the sale or purchase of such securities as may be specified in the notification, and may also specify the manner in which, and the extent to which, the provisions of that section shall so apply.

* * *1 if any vacancy shall hap­pen in the office of governor general of India when no provisional or other successor shall be upon the spot to supply such vacancy, then and in every such case2 the ordinary member of council next in rank to the said governor general shall hold and execute the said office of governor general of India 3 * * * until a successor shall arrive or until some other person on the spot shall be duly appointed thereto; and every such acting governor general shall, during the time of his continuing to act as such, have and exercise all the rights and powers of governor general of India, and shall be entitled to receive the emoluments and advantages appertaining to the office by him supplied, such acting governor general foregoing his salary and allowance of a member of council for the same period. _________________________ 1. Enacting words repealed (U.K.), 51&52 Vict., c. 57 (S.L.R.). 2. The Vice-president appointed under 9 Edw. 7, c. 4, Section. 4, shall be deemed to be such member. 3. Title: Prohibition of Public Meetings During Period of Forty-eight Hours Ending with Hour Fixed for Conclusion of Poll

Prohibition of public meetings during period of forty-eight hours ending with hour fixed for conclusion of poll (1) No person shall-- (a) convene, hold, attend, join or address any public meeting or procession in connection with an election; or (b) display to the public any election matter by means of cinematograph, "television or other similar apparatus; or (c) propagate any election matter to the public by holding, or by arranging the holding of, any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement with a view to attracting the members of the public thereto, in any polling area during the period of forty-eight hours ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of the poll for any election in that polling area. (2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of sub-section (1) shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine, or with both. (3) In this section, the expression "election matter" means any matter intended or calculated to influence or affect the result of an election.] ______________________ 1. An inland1[mechanically propelled vessel] having engines of less than2[forty] nominal horse-power shall not proceed on any voyage unless she has -- (a) as her master a person possessing a serang's certificate granted under this Act, or any certificate referred to in clause (a) of section 26, and (b) as her engineer a person possessing a second-class engine-driver's certificate granted under this Act, or any certificate referred to in cl.
