Any member of the Force who,-- (a) is found to be guilty of any violation of duty or wilful breach of any provision of this Act or any rule or order made thereunder, or (b) is found to be guilty of cowardice, or (c) withdraws from the duties of his office without permission or without having given previous notice of at least two months, or 10 (d) being absent on leave fails without reasonable cause to report himself for duty on the expiration of such leave, or (e) accepts any other employment or office in contravention of the provisions of section 28, shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to three months or with fine which may extend to an amount not exceeding three months pay of such members or with both. (1) The Chief Engineer, the Water Supply Engineer, the Sanitary Engineer, any officer authorised in this behalf by the Board or any police officer may arrest any person who commits in his view any offence against this Act or against any rule or regulation made thereunder, if, (a) the name and address of such person be unknown to him, and (b) such person on demand declines to give his name and address or gives a name and address which such officer has reason to believe to be false. (2) No person so arrested shall be detained in custody after his true name and address are ascertained or, without the order of the nearest magistrate, for a period longer than twenty-four hours from the time of arrest exclusive of the time necessary for the journey from the place of arrest to the court of such magistrate.

(1) Any police officer may arrest any person who commits in his view any offence against any of the provisions of this Act, or of any rule or bye-law thereunder, if the name and address of such person be unknown to him, and if such person on demand declines to give his name and address or gives a name and address which such officer has reason to believe to be false. Act 41 of 1975.- The object of this Bill is to amend the income-tax Act, 1961, the Wealth Tax Act. 1957, the Gift Tax Act, 1958 and the Companies (Profits) Surtax Act, 1964. The proposals relating to the amendments to these enactments have been formulated after a detailed examination of the recommendations of the Direct Taxes Enquiry Committee (Wanchoo Committee) and the Forty-seventh Report of the Law Commission on the Trial and Punishment of Social and Economic Offences, the latter in so far as they relate to direct taxes. Opportunity has been taken to sponsor some amendments on the basis of suggestions received from various other quarters as well. Technical difficulties arising in the operation of some of the provisions of these enactments have also been taken into account in formulating these proposals. 2.
