THE UTTARAKHAND OFFICIAL LANGUAGE ACT, 2009 THE UTTARAKHAND OFFICIAL LANGUAGE ACT, 2009 [Act No. 14 of 2010] PREAMBLE An Act to provide for adoption of Hindi as the language to be used for the official purposes and other matters of the State of Uttarakhand Whereas, Article 345 and clause (3) of Article 348 of the Constitution provided inter alia that the Legislature of a State may by law adopt Hindi in Devanagri script as the language to be used for official purposes of the State and for matters hereinafter appearing: Be it enacted by State Assembly in the Sixtieth Year of the Republic of India as follows-- Section 1 - Short title, extent and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Uttarakhand Official Language Act, 2009. (2) It extends to the whole of Uttarakhand. (3) It shall come into force at once. .....or Regulationmade under this Act shall be published in the Official Gazette. (2) Every Statute, Ordinances or Regulation made under this Act, shall be laid, as soon as may be after it is made, before each House of Parliament, while it is in session, for a total period of thirty days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions, and if, before the expiry of the session immediately following the session or the successive sessions aforesaid, both Houses agree in making any modification in the Statute, Ordinances or Regulation or both Houses agree that the Statute, Ordinances or Regulation should not be made, the Statute, Ordinances or Regulation shall thereafter have effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that Statute, Ordinances or Regulation. (3) The power to make Statutes, Ordinances or Regulations shall include the power to give retrospective effect, from a date not earlier than the date of commencement of this Act, to the Statutes, Ordinances or Regulations or any of them.....
