THE CALICUT UNIVERSITY ACT, 1975 THE CALICUT UNIVERSITY ACT, 1975 1 (ACT 5 OF 1975) An Act to provide for the reorganisation of the University of Calicut Preamble.-WHEREAS it is expedient to reorganise the University of Calicut with a view to establishing a teaching, residential and affiliating University for the northern districts of the State of Kerala; BE it enacted in the Twenty-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- CHAPTER I Preliminary 1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Calicut University Act, 1975. (2) Section 64 shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint, and the other provisions of this Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 9th day of September, 1974. 2. (12) The Chancellor may, at any time, require or direct the University to act in conformity with the provisions of this Act and the statues, ordinances and regulations made thereunder.
