Title: Definitions

.....accordance with the provisions of the First Schedule; (6) "Income-tax Act" means the Income-tax Act, 1961. (7) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act; 2[(7-A) "regular assessment" means as assessment made under section 6.] (8) "Statutory deduction" means an amount equal to3[fifteen per cent] of the capital of the company as computed in accordance with the provisions of the Second Schedule, or an amount of two hundred thousand rupees, whichever is greater: Provided that where the previous year is longer or shorter than a period of twelve months, the aforesaid amount of c[fifteen per cent] or, as the case may be, of two hundred thousand rupees shall be increased or decreased proportionately: Provided further that where a company has different previous years in respect of its income, profits and gains, the aforesaid increase or decrease, as the case may be, shall be calculated with reference to the length of the previous year of the longest duration; and (9) all other words and expressions used herein but not defined and defined in the Income-tax Act shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them in that Act. ________________________ 1......

Title: Remission of Tax in Case of Vacancies when Obligatory

.....wholly or in great part demolished or destroyed by fire or otherwise deprived of value, the municipal council may remit or refund such portion, if any, of the tax or cess or instalment as it may think equitable: Provided that no such remission under this section shall be granted unless notice in writing of the fact of the building or land being vacant and unproductive of rent has been given to the municipal council, and that no remission or refund shall take effect for any period previous to the day of the delivery of such notice: Provided further that no land, building or tenement shall be deemed vacant if maintained as a pleasure resort or town or country house or be deemed unproductive of rent if let to a tenant who has a continuing right of occupation thereof, whether he is in actual occupation or not. Title: Improvement Schemes and Improvement Boards

(3) The provisions of this Act and of any rules or bye-laws made under itas to the level and width of streets and the height of buildings abutting thereon, shall apply also in the case of streets referred to in sub-section (2) and all the particulars referred to in that sub-section shall be subject to the approval of the municipal council. Title: Payment of Betterment Fee First Charge

(1) Every payment due from any person in respect of a betterment fee and every charge referred to in section 166 shall, notwithstanding anything contained in any other enactment and notwithstanding the existence of any mortgage or other charge, whether legal or equitable, created either before or after the commencement of this Act, and subject to prior payment of land revenue due to the Government, be the first charge upon the interest of such person in such land. (2) If any instalment of interest due under an agreement executed inpursuance of section 166, is not paid on the date on which it is due, the betterment fee shall become payable on that date, in addition to the said instalment. (3) At any time after an agreement has been executed in pursuance ofsection 166 any person may pay off the charge created thereby, with interest, at six per cent per annum up to the date of such payment.

Title: Right to Carry Drain Through Land or into Drain Belonging to Other Persons
