.....of prisoners in jails. (6) "History-ticket" means the ticket exhibiting such information as is required in respect of each prisoner by this Act or the rules thereunder. (7) "Inspector-General" means the Inspector-General of Prisons. (8) "Medical subordinate" means an Assistant Surgeon or Sub-Assistant Surgeon. (9) "Prohibited article" means an article the introduction or removal of which into or out of a prison is prohibited by any rule under this Act. CHAPTER II Maintenance and Officers of prisons 4. Government shall provide, for the prisoners in the State of Travancore-Cochin accommodation in prisons constructed and regulated in such manner as to comply with the requisitions of this Act in respect of the separation of prisoners. 5. The District Magistrate of the District in which the prison is situate or any other officer appointed by Government shall be Inspector-General in respect of that prison who shall exercise, subject to the orders of Government, the general control and superintendence of that prison. 6. THE KERALA UNIVERSITY ACT, 1974[1] THE KERALA UNIVERSITY ACT, 1974 [1] An Act to provide for the reorganisation of the University of Kerala Preamble. -Whereas it is expedient to reorganise the University of Kerala with a view to establishing a teaching, residential and affiliating University for the southern districts of the State of Kerala; BE it enacted in the Twenty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- C HAPTER I Preliminary 1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Kerala University Act, 1974. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may by notification in the Gazette, appoint: Provided that different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act and any reference in any such provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the coming into force of that provision. 2.
