BOMBAY TENANCY AND AGRICULTURAL LANDS ACT, 1948 BOMBAY TENANCY AND AGRICULTURAL LANDS ACT, 1948 67 of 1948 An Act to amend the law relating to tenancies of agricultural lands and to make certain other provisions in regard to those lands. WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the law which governs the relations of landlords and tenants of agricultural lands; AND WHEREAS, on account of the neglect of a landholder or disputes betsveen a landholder and his tenants, the cultivation of his estate has seriously suffered, or for the purpose of improving the economic and social conditions of peasants or ensuring the full and efficient use of land for agriculture, it is expedient to assume management of estates held by landholders and to regulate and impose restrictions on the transfer of agricultural lands, dwelling houses, sites and lands appurtenant thereto belonging to or occupied by agriculturists, agricultural labourers and artisans in the Province of Bombay and to make provisions for certain other purpose hereinafter appearing; It is enacted as follows:- CHAPTER 1 Preliminary Section 1 Short title, extent and commencement (1) This Act may be called the BOMBAY.....

ACT 30 of 1993 : - The Dentists Act, 1948 was enacted with the object of regulating the profession of dentistry and for that purpose to constitute Dental Councils. 2. The experience of the working of the Act has brought to light certain inadequacies. One of the most noticeable inadequacies has been the mushrooming of the dental colleges without adequate academic and training facilities as laid down in the regulations of the Dental Council of India. At present, the law does not require any one to seek the prior permission of Dental Council of India before establishing a new dental college or for adding a new course of study or post- graduate course or for increasing the capacity of 'students in any existing college, taking advantage of these legal lacumae dental colleges were being established after obtaining the permission of the State Government and affiliation from the University concerned. Title: Powers as to Oaths and Notarial Acts Abroad

(1) Every diplomatic or consular officer may, in any foreign country or place where he is exercising his functions, administer any oath and take any affidavit and also do any notarial act which any notary public may do within1[a State]; and every oath, affidavit and notarial act administered, sworn or done by or before any such person shall be as effectual as if duly administered, sworn or done by or before any lawful authority in {Subs., ibid., for "any Province of India".}2[a State]. Section 89 - Notice of certain diseases ( 1 ) Where any worker in a factory contracts any disease specified in1[the Third Schedule], the manager of the factory shall send notice thereof to such authorities, and in such form and within such time, as may be prescribed. ( 2 ) If any me dical practitioner attends on a person who is or has been employed in a factory, and who is, or is believed by the me dical practitioner to be, suffering from any disease specified in1[the Third Schedule], the me dical practitioner shall without delay send a report in writing to the office of the Chief Inspector stating- (a) the name and full postal address of the patient, (b) the disease from which he believes the patient to be suffering, and (c) the name and address of the factory in which the patient is, or was last, employed. ( 3 ) Where the report under sub-section ( 2 ) is confirmed to the satisfaction of the Chief Inspector, by the certificate of a certifying surgeon or otherwise, that the person is suffering from a disease specified in1[the Third Schedule], he shall pay to the me dical practitioner such.....

Factories Act, 1948 Section 91

(1) An Inspector may at any time during the normal working hours of a factory, after informing the occupier or manager of the factory or other person for the time being purporting to be in charge of the factory, take in the manner hereinafter provided a sufficient sample of any substances used or intended to be used in the factory, such use being-- (a) in the belief of the Inspector in contravention of any of the provisions of this Act or the rules made thereunder, or (b) in the opinion of the Inspector likely to cause bodily injury to, or injury to the health of, workers in the factory. (2) Where the Inspector takes a sample under sub-section (1), he shall, in the presence of the person informed under that sub-section unless such person wilfully absents himself, divide the sample into three portions and effectively seal and suitably mark them, and shall permit such person to add his own seal and mark thereto. (3) The person informed as aforesaid shall, if the Inspector so requires, provide the appliances for dividing, sealing and marking the sample taken under this section. (4) The Inspector shall-- (a) forthwith give one portion of the sample to the person informed.....

WHEREAS it is expedient to consolidate and amend the law regulating labour in factories; It is hereby enacted as follows:- SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE, EXTENT AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Act may be called the Factories Act, 1948. 1[(2) It extends to the whole of India 2[***]].
