GOVERNMENT OF INDIA ACT, 1915-191 Preamble2 An Act to consolidate enactments relating to the government of India. whereas it is the declared policy of Parliament to provide for the increasing association of Indians in every branch of Indian administration, and for the gradual development of self-governing institutions, with a view to the progressive realisation of responsible government in British India as an integral part of the empire: AND WHEREAS progress in giving effect to this policy can only be achieved by successive stages, and it is expedient that substantial steps in this direction should now be taken: AND WHEREAS the time and manner of each advance can be determined only by Parliament, upon whom responsibility lies for the welfare and advancement of the Indian peoples: AND WHEREAS the action of Parliament in such matters must be guided by the co-operation received from those on whom new opportunities of service will be conferred, and by the extent to which it is found that confidence con be reposed in their sense of responsibility: AND WHEREAS concurrently with the gradual development of self-governing institutions in the provinces of India it is.....

Title: Letters Patent of George 2, Dated the 8th January, in the 21st Year of His Reign

.....time to time by his Majesty, his heirs and successors, with full power to exercise such civil criminal admiralty and ecclesiastical jurisdictions, both as to natives and British subjects, and to be invested with such power and authorities, privileges and immunities, for the better administration of the same, and subject to the same limitations, restrictions and control within the said Fort Saint George and town of Madras and the limits thereof and the factories sub ordinate thereto, and within the territories which now are or hereafter may be subject to or dependent upon the said government of Madras, as the said supreme court of judicature at Fort William in Bengal, by virtue of any law now in force and unrepealed or by this present Act, doth consist of, is invested with or subject to, within the said Fort William or the kingdoms or provinces of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa.

Title: Proprietors of Shares to Be Members of Association

The (Bengal) Alluvion & Diluvion Act, 1847 Complete Act

.....bears to the mufassal jama of the whole estate; but, if the mufassal jama of the whole estate or of the land lost cannot be ascertained to the satisfaction of the local Revenue authorities, then the said local Revenue authorities shall make a deduction from the sadar jama of the estate equal to so much of the whole sadar jama of the estate as bears to the whole in the same proportion as the land lost bears to the whole estate. And this deduction with the reasons thereof, shall be forthwith reported by the local Revenue-authorities for the information and orders of the Board of Revenue whose orders thereupon shall be final. Section 6 - Assessment of increments to revenue paying estates Whenever on inspection of any such new map it shall appear to the local Revenue authorities that land has been added to any estate paying revenue directly to Government, they shall without delay assess the same with a revenue payable to Government according to the rules in force for assessing alluvial increments, and shall report their proceedings forthwith to the Board of Revenue, whose orders thereupon shall be final. If any person within any colony shall be charged with the commission of any treason, piracy, felony, robbery, murder, conspiracy, or other offence of what nature or kind so ever, committed upon the sea, or in any haven, river, creek, or place where the admiral or admirals have power, authority, or jurisdiction, or if any person charged with the commission of any such offence upon the sea on in any such haven, river, creek or place shall be brought for trial to any colony, then and in every such case all magistrates, justices of the peace, public prosecutors, juries, judges, courts, public officers, and other persons in such colony shall have and exercise, the same jurisdiction and authorities for inquiring of, trying, hearing, determining and adjudging such offences, and they are hereby respectively authorised, empowered, and required to institute and carry on all such proceedings for the bringing of such person so charged as aforesaid to trial, and for and auxiliary to and consequent upon, the trial of any such person for any such offence; wherewith he may be charged as aforesaid as by the law of such colony would and ought to have been had and exercised or instituted and carrie
