(6) "conductor's licence" means the licence issued by a competent authority under Chapter III authorising the person specified therein to act as a conductor; (7) "contract carriage" means a motor vehicle which carries a passenger or passengers for hire or reward and is engaged under a contract, whether expressed or implied, for the use of such vehicle as a whole for the carriage of passengers mentioned therein and entered into by a person with a holder of a permit in relation to such vehicle or any person authorised by him in this behalf on a fixed or an agreed rate or sum- (a) on a time basis, whether or not with reference to any route or distance; or (b) from one point to another, and in either case, without stopping to pick up or set down passengers not included in the contract anywhere during the journey, and includes- (i) a maxicab; and (ii) a motorcab notwithstanding the separate fares are charged for its passengers; (8) "dealer" includes a person who is engaged- (a) 1 [ x x x] (b) in building bodies for attachment to chassis; or (c) in the repair of motor vehicles; or (d) in the business of hypothecation, leasing or hire-purchase of motor vehicle; (9).....

.....Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1) the appropriate Government may, either on its own motion or on the application made by the employer and after giving the employer and the workmen an opportunity of being heard, review its order under sub-section (1) or refer the matter to a Tribunal for adjudication: Provided that where a reference has been made to a Tribunal under this subsection, it shall pass an award within a period of sixty days from the date of such reference and, pending such award, the undertaking shall not be closed down." ________________________ 1. Title: Procedure for Closing Down an Undertaking

.....of the workmen by registered post with acknowledgement due. (2) Where a notice has been served on the State Government by an employer under sub-section (1) of section 25FFA and the period of notice had not expired on the 5th August, 1983, such employer shall not close down the undertaking but shall, within a period of fifteen days from the said date, apply to the State Government for permission to close down the undertaking. (3) Where an application for permission has been made under sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) the State Government after making such enquiry as it thinks fit and after giving a reasonable opportunity of being heard to the employer, the workmen and the persons interested in such closure may, having regard to the genuineness and adequacy or the reasons stated by employer, the interests of the general public and all other relevant factors, by order and for reasons to be recorded in writing, grant or refuse to grant such permission and copy of such order shall be communicated to the employer and the workmen. (4) Where an application has been made under sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) as the case may be, and the State Government does not communicate.....

Title: Power to Close Roads and Open Spaces

.....of access, or (b) whose immovable property was receiving air and light on account of such open space or part, and who has suffered damage-- (i) in any case falling under clause (a) from such discontinuance or closure and (ii) in any case falling under clause (b) from the use to which the Corporation has put such open space or part. (3) In determining the compensation payable to any person under sub-section (2), the Corporation may take into consideration any benefit accruing to such person from the construction, provision or improvement of any other road, or open space at or about the same time that the road or open space or part thereof, on account of which the compensation is to be paid, is discontinued or closed. (4) When any road or open space or any part thereof is permanently closed under sub-section (1), the Corporation may sell or leave such part of it as is not required for its purposes.

The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, declare the whole year or any part thereof to be a close time throughout the whole or any part of its territories for any kind of wild bird or animal to which this Act applies, or for female or immature wild birds or animals of such kind; and, subject to the provisions hereinafter contained, during such close time, and within the areas specified in such notification, it shall be unlawful-- (a) to capture any such bird or animal, or to kill any such bird or animal which has not been captured before the commencement of such close time; (b) to sell or buy, or offer to sell or buy, or to possess, any such bird or animal which has not been captured or killed before the commencement of such close time, or the flesh thereof; (c) if any plumage has been taken from any such bird captured or killed during such close time, to sell of buy, or to offer to sell or buy, or to possess, such plumage.

Title: Power to Close Register of Members or Debenture-holders

(1) A company may, after giving not less than seven days' previous notice by advertisement in some newspapers circulating in the district in which the registered office of the company is situate, close the register of members or the register of debenture-holders for any period or periods not exceeding in the aggregate fifty-five days in each year, but not exceeding thirty days at any one time. (2) If the register of members or of debenture-holders is closed without giving the notice provided in sub-section (1), or after giving shorter notice than that so provided, or for a continuous or an aggregate period in excess of the limits specified in that subsection, the company, and every officer of the company who is in default, shall be punishable with fine which may extend to1[five thousand rupees] for every day during which the register is so closed. ____________________ 1.
