.....or Zilla Panchayat shall be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Central Act 49 of 1988) for the time being in force. Section 288 - Damage to any property of Panchayats and how made good If through any act, neglect or default on account of which any person shall have incurred penalty imposed by or under this Act and any damage to the property of any Grama Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat or Zilla Panchayat shall have been caused by such person, he shall be liable to make good such damage as well as to pay such penalty and the value of the damage shall in case of dispute be determined by the Magistrate. The person incurring such penalty be convicted, and non-payment of such value on demand the same shall be levied by distress, and the Magistrate shall issue a warrant.....
