.....medical units and establishments clearly visible to the enemy land, air or naval forces, in order to obviate the possibility of any hostile action. Article 43 The medical units belonging to neutral countries, which may have been authorized to lend their services to a belligerent under the conditions laid down in Article 27, shall fly, along with the flag of the convention, the national flag of that belligerent, wherever the latter makes use of the faculty conferred on him by Article 42. Title: Abuse of the Red Cross and Other Emblems

.....for any purpose and it is proved that he used it otherwise than as, or as part of, a trade mark so registered, it shall be a defence for him to prove- (a) that he lawfully used that design or wording for that purpose before the coming into force of this Act; or (b) in a case where he is charged with using the design or wording upon goods, that the design or wording had been applied to the goods before he acquired them by some other person who had manufactured or dealt with the goods in the course of trade and who lawfully used the design or wording upon similar goods before the coming into force of this Act. Section 16 - Use of Red Cross and other emblems on Indian ship or aircraft The provisions of this Chapter extend to the use in or outside India of any emblem, designation, design or wording as is referred to in section 12 on any Indian ship or aircraft.

.....that is to say, a lion passing from right to left of, and with its face turned towards, the observer, holding erect in its raised right forepaw a scimitar, with, appearing above the lion's back, the upper half of the sun shooting forth rays, or the designation "Red Lion and Sun"; (d) the emblem of a white or silver cross with vertical and horizontal arms of the same length on, and completely surrounded by, a red ground, being the heraldic emblem of the Swiss Confederation; or (e) any design or wording so nearly resembling any of the emblems or designation specified in the preceding clauses of this section as to be capable of being mistaken for, or, as the case may be, understood as referring to, one of those emblems.

.....hospital ships or sick-bays of vessels of the protection due to them:- (Conditions not depriving hospital ships of protection.) (1) The fact that the crews of ships or sick-bays are armed for the maintenance of order, for their own defence or that of the sick and wounded. (2) The presence on board of apparatus exclusively intended to facilitate navigation or communication. (3) The discovery on board hospital ships or in sick-bays of portable arms and ammunition taken from the wounded, sick and shipwrecked and not yet handed to the proper service. (4) The fact that the humanitarian activities of hospital ships and sick-bays of vessels or of the crews extend to the care of wounded, sick or shipwrecked civilians.
