.....the body constituted for the administration of a commune panchayat under this Act; (7) "company" means any company is defined in the Companies Act, 1956 (Central Act 1 of 1956), and includes " (a) any foreign company within the meaning of section 591 of that Act: (b) any co-operative society registered or deemed to be registered under the law relating to co-operative societies for the time being in force; and (c) any body corporate, or any firm or association carrying on business in the Union territory whether incorporated or not and whether its principal place of business is situated in the said Union territory or not; (8) "Director" means a Director appointed under section 195 and also includes any officer authorized by the Government to exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Director; (9) "election authority" means such authority, not being president or vice-president or a member of the village panchayat or the chairman or vice-chairman or a member of the commune panchayat council as the Government may, by notification, appoint; (10) "executive authority" means, in the case of a village panchayat having an executive officer, the executive officer.....

Where the {Substituted, by the A.O.1937, for "C.G.in C".} [State Government] is of opinion that the Khoja community in {Substituted, by the A.O.1937, for "British India".} [the State] or any part thereof desire that the provisions of this Act should be extended to such community {Substituted, by the A.O.1937, for "he".}[it] may, by notification in the Official Gazette, declare that the provisions of this Act, with the substitution of the word "Khojas" or "Khoja", as the case may be, for the word "Hindus" or "Hindu" wherever those words occur, shall apply to that community in such area as may be specified in the notification , and this Act shall thereupon have effect accordingly.

Title: Mischief Causing Damage to Public Property

(1) Whoever commits mischief by doing any act in respect of any public properly, other than public property of the nature referred to in sub-section (2), shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years and with fine. (2) Whoever commits mischief by doing any act in respect of any public property being (a) any building, installation or other property used in connection with the production, distribution or supply of water, light, power or energy; (b) any oil installations; (c) any sewage works; (d) any mine or factory; (e) any means of public transportation or of tele-communications, or any building, installation or other property used in connection therewith. shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than six months, but which may extend to five years and with fine : Provided that the court may, for reasons to be recorded in its judgment, award a sentence of imprisonment for a term of less than six months.
