BE it enacted by Parliament in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- [a] For Statement of Objects and Reasons, see Gaz. of India, 1957, Extra., Pt. II, section 2, p. 392; and for Report of the Joint Committee, see p. 997.PRELIMINARY SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE, EXTENT AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Act may be called the Mines and Minerals4["(Development and Regulation)"] Act, 1957. (2) It extends1to the whole of India. (3) It shall come into force on such date2as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. THE KERALA LAND CONSERVANCY ACT, 1957 [1] THE KERALA LAND CONSERVANCY ACT, 1957 [1] ACT 8 OF 1958 An Act to check the unauthorised occupation of Government lands. Preamble.- WHEREAS it is necessary to enact a uniform law for checking the unauthorised occupation of Government lands; BE it enacted in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement .--(1) This Act may be called the Kerala Land conservancy Act, 1957. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Kerala . (3) It shall come into force at once. 2.
