Howrah Bridge Act, 1926 Complete Act

.....sanction of the Governor General under sub-section (3), of section 80A, of the Government of India Act has been obtained, to the passing of this Act; It is hereby enacted as follows: Section 1 Short title and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Howarh Bridge Act, 1926. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the 11. Words subs, by the Government of India (Adaptation of Indian Laws) Order, 1937 and the Adaptation of Laws Order, 1950. (l) "Calcutta" means the area described in Schedule I to the Calcutta Municipal Act, 1951, as deemed to have been amended under section 593 of that Act; (2) "the Commissioners" means the Commissioners for the new Howrah Bridge, hereinafter incorporated under the provisions of section 3; (3) "notification" means a notification published in the 33. HOOGHLY RIVER BRIDGE ACT, 1969 HOOGHLY RIVER BRIDGE ACT, 1969 36 of 1969 15th November, 1969 An Act to re-enact, with modification, the provisions of the Hooghly River Bridges Act, 1968.WHEREAS the Hooghly River Bridges Act, 1968, providing for the construction, maintenance and control of bridges across the river Hooghly within the Port of Calcutta was enacted by the President of India during the period of operation of the Proclamation issued by the President of India on the 20th day of February, 1968, under article 356 of the Constitution of India in relation to the State of West Bengal; AND WHEREAS it is expedient to re-enact, with modification, the provisions of the said Hooghly River Bridges Act, 1968; It is hereby enacted as follows Section 1 Short title and application (1) This Act may be called the Hooghly River Bridge Act, 1969. (2) It shall apply to the Port of Calcutta as defined, from time to time, under section 5 of the Indian Ports Act, 1908. Section 2 Definitions In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "bridge" includes a tunnel; (b) "Chairman" includes a Vice-Chairman, if any, appointed by the State Government under sub-section.....

The Punjab Mechanical Vehicles (Bridges and Roads Tolls) Act, 1998 Complete Act

.....shall subject to the conditions of the lease, exercise the powers and perform the duties conferred and imposed on the Fee Inspector under this Act or the rules made there under; (3) The lessee and all the persons employed by him in the management and collection of toll shall be bound by the orders made by the authority Section 5 - Power of Fee Inspector (1) A person driving the mechanical vehicle shall cause the vehicle to stop when required to do so by the Fee Inspector to enable him to carry out duties imposed on him by or under this Act. Section 6 - Offences and Penalties (1) Whoever- (a) attempts to cross the bridge or use the road without complying with the provisions of this Act; (b) obstruct or attempt is to obstruct the Fee Inspector in the discharge of his duties imposed by or under this Act; (c) contravenes or attempts to contravene any provision of this Act or the rules made there under or any order or direction made under such provisions or rules; or (d) fails to pay the toll; shall be liable on conviction to a fine.....

.....or any officer of the Government or the Board in respect of anything, which is in good faith done or intended to be done in pursuance of this Act, rules and regulations made or any order issued thereunder. .....(Bridge Tails) Act, 1957. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India, as follows :- Section 1 - Short title and commencement This Act may be called the Punjab Mechanical Vehicles (Bridge Tolls) (Repeal) Act, 1976. Section 2 - Repeal of Punjab Act 1 of 1958 The Punjab Mechanical Vehicles (Bridge Tolls) Act, 1957, is hereby repealed. Provided that such repeal shall not affect " (a) the previous operation of the Act so repealed or anything duly done or suffered there under; or (b) any obligation or liability accrued or incurred under the Act so repealed; or (c) any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed against the Act so repealed; or (d) any legal proceeding or remedy in respect of any such obligation, liability, penalty, forfeiture or punishment as aforesaid; and any such legal proceeding or remedy may be continued or enforced and any such penalty, forfeiture or punishment may be imposed as if this Act had not been passed. Whoever commits mischief by doing any act which renders or which he knows to be likely to render any public road, bridge, navigable river or navigable channel, natural or artificial, impassable or less safe for travelling or conveying property, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine, or with both.
