Section Text
(1) This Act may be called the1[Karnataka] Small Cause Courts Act, 1964.
(2) It extends to the whole of the1[State of Karnataka].
(3) It shall come into force on such2[date] as the State Government may, by notification, appoint.

Section 2 - DefinitionsInthis Act, unless the context otherwise requires-
1 [(a) "Cityof Bangalore" shall have the meaning assigned to it in the Bangalore City CivilCourt Act, 1979;]
2 [(aa)]"Code" means the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, (Central Act 5 of 1908);
(b) "Court of SmallCauses" means a Court of Small Causes constituted or deemed to have beenconstituted under this Act and includes any person exercising jurisdictionunder this Act in any such Court;
(c) "High Court" meansthe High Court of the 3 [State of Karnataka];
(d) "Judge" means a Judge of theCourt of Small Causes 1 [and in the City of Bangalore the Chief Judgeof the Court of Small Causes];
(e) "judicial service"shall have the same meaning as in clause (b) of Article 236 of the Constitution of India;
(f) "notification"means a notification published in the official Gazette.
